I mean, I've played many of them. I remember getting really into Tekken 3 back in the day,

but in terms of being my go to for fighting games, it never really made it to that point

with me. I guess I'll always be more of a Street Fighter guy. But any fan of fighters

has to agree that Tekken is a lot of fun. And now you can take that fighting anywhere

with your PSP and PS Vita.

One thing that makes Tekken so great is the depth of the fighting. Instead of special

powers, fatalities, and Dragon Uppercuts, Tekken is concerned with combos. The fighting

feels realistic, well as realistic as a fighting kangaroo can be, which might actually be more

realistic than you would like to think. But the thing about the button combination fighting

system is how accessible it is to newcomers, and by newcomers I mean button mashers. And

Tekken 6 is no different. You start mashing but you soon learn mastering, and that is

where the reward is.

But this is just can be said about the Tekken series in general and that's the point I'm

trying to make. Tekken 6 for the PSP doesn't miss a beat. This is Tekken, no loopholes

or liberties, but the legitimate real deal. There are all the game modes, characters,

and extras of console release. You can take your skill to the arcade battle, which is

good ol' fashioned arcade combat. But there is also a story mode, with each character

getting a tale with one more being more complicated than the next. I really have no idea the story

of these games. It's over my head. But you also practice, fight against ghost characters

and even see how your skill match up online against other competitors. PS, they are really

good online.

But probably one of the most impressive things about this release is just how much stuff

is in this portable version and how great it looks. Fighting games are very much dependent

on frame-rate and the overall smoothness of the gameplay and this provides that. It is

a dream to play, and looks great all the while. It doesn't feel like you are missing out on

anything but simply a portable version of the fantastic entry to this long running fighting

series. It's incredible how much this feels like its console big brother. If you are a

Tekken fan and always on the road, this is a dream come true.
