  • Hi everybody. We're at Xiaowulai Waterfall

  • Today there's a really nice flow.

  • It rained a few days ago, so it looks really beautiful right now

  • We plan to hike up the adjacent river.

  • Last year we flew a drone all the way up the mountain,

  • To about a thousand meters [above sea level] we're at about 400 right now.

  • And we saw that there's a nice

  • waterfall way up the mountain there so

  • we're going to attempt to get to it today.

  • In the in the drone video that we shot last year.

  • We saw that there's a farm up on the top of the mountain there

  • so we're going to attempt to drive to it

  • that would take up to about 650 meters [above sea level]

  • so then we'd only have to hike up

  • another 350 meters, to 1000 meters above sea level.

  • The roads to that farm are not on Google Maps.

  • hopefully we can find them

  • there's a lot of water now.

  • Hopefully as we get up there

  • the water will decrease a bit

  • and make it easier for us to get in.

  • It's a beautiful day I'm excited.

  • So let's do this!

  • so we've reached the end of the road

  • We're going to start walking from here.

  • It looks like there's a path that will go down into the river.

  • And we found this hiking flag, so maybe maybe there's

  • a path that we can take that'll go all the way up

  • or maybe go to the mountain

  • we don't know but we're about to find out

  • we made it to the river

  • but there's a lot of water.

  • It looks like we're going to have to swim it from here.

  • Woo, this water is a little bit cold!

  • so the river is getting pretty narrow here .

  • If we still have to go up another

  • 250 meters or so [in elevation] and the rivers like this here now,

  • We might not be able to make it the whole way.

  • but we'll just go as far as we can and and see what's up there.

  • Hopefully we can get to our destination

  • This last bit of River has been kind of like a staircase.

  • We've been able to gain a lot of elevation pretty quickly.

  • It's been kind of easy.

  • We were worried before that

  • because the the river was really narrow,

  • maybe we wouldn't be able to make it.

  • Thankfully it widened back up.

  • We think that it's got to go up to that ridge there,

  • and around to the right

  • And then we'll be at the waterfall.

  • There's an hundred meter section in there

  • that we have no information about.

  • I couldn't see it on the satellite images,

  • but it looks pretty narrow.

  • Even though we're almost there,

  • I think it's still about 150 meters in elevation gain,

  • so hopefully we can we can get around that.

  • so we just came around the bend here

  • after a very steep area

  • It looks like a completely different river.

  • It's really beautiful here. I like it

  • We've been traveling for a few hours now up river.

  • We past a canyony part in the very beginning.

  • Then it sort of opened out in quite a wide river base.

  • And we've just taken a right hand fork.

  • It seems like we're entering up the third and final stage

  • up through the jungle.

  • So let's see how we get on! Onwards and Upwards!

  • After the last [3] hours of river climbing,

  • We've past a dozen waterfalls,

  • A couple of wades and a couple of slips.

  • We've finally made it to the Badboy.

  • It's just around this bend.

  • It should open up.

  • It sounds like it's really pouring in there,

  • But we're all quite excited.

  • John tell me how you tell me how you got the drone up so high?

  • DJI Vision Control came on.

    DJI Vision Control

  • And it would only let me go 10 meters high.

  • So I bounced off that first tree.

  • And let the alarm and sensors go off.

  • Then I bounced off that tree.

  • I flew out to the center of the canyon

  • And I managed to go as high as it would let me.

  • And then the GPS kicked in.

    和GPS啟動

  • Nice!

  • The DJI Phantom 4 can only fly ten meters above ground

  • without a GPS signal.

  • To get around this

  • John flies over a branch

  • setting off the 10-meter sensor.

  • Then over the top of the tree.

  • Triggering the 10 meter sensor again.

  • And then he could get high enough to get a GPS signal,

  • And fly over the waterfall.

  • Wow!

  • Wow! We made it.

  • This was not a given.

  • I was not sure if we'd be able to make it here or not.

  • I'm very happy we did.

  • It looks amazing.

  • And it is huge!

  • Wow!

  • This waterfall must be, I don't know, 60 meters tall?

  • It's beautiful.

  • I love it.

  • This is definitely one of the bigger falls that I've been to.

  • And one of the harder ones to get to.

  • I'm not sure how long it took us,

  • maybe three hours, could be more.

  • I've got to check the GPS log.

  • But, Wow!

  • This was an adventure.

  • I'm pretty happy with today.

  • The weather held out.

  • It's just so good to be here right now.

  • I finally made it back to the bikes.

  • It turns out this hiking flag had had nothing to do with the waterfall.

  • The path goes up the mountain to the left.

  • I'll post where it is later.

  • Further up the stream there was some pipes

  • But they quickly finished off.

  • As continued up the stream there was a

  • little bit of garbage that I picked up

  • probably from some hunters.

  • But then it stopped and once we turned the corner

  • and went up into the canyon,

  • where thing got quite quite difficult,

  • We didn't see any signs of humans being there after that,

  • So I'm pretty sure that this is an uncharted waterfall.

  • I wasn't able to find anything online about it

  • In about two years now of searching.

  • So we've decided, John and I, that we're going to

  • That we're name the English name of this waterfall

  • after ourselves.

  • Why didn't you guys help me out with the Chinese name.

  • And we'll pick one and name the waterfall after that.

  • Thanks a lot for watching I'll have the

  • I'll have map and details up soon.

  • So that you can hike there yourself.

  • It's not really a beginner waterfall,

  • But for people who love the outdoors people who love adventure.

  • And are used to climbing rocks and playing in the river.

  • I think you'll really enjoy this one.
