This three-year-old kid picks up a steel pipe,

like he’s gonna fight off a bunch of police officers.

彷彿是要跟一群警察決鬥一樣

What a riot!

真是滑稽

Even the police officers are filming it.

就連警方自己也在錄影

The video is so cute that China’s state-run People’s Daily

這影片可愛到連中國的 國營媒體《人民日報》

posted it to their YouTube channel.

也把它放到 YouTube 頻道上了

Wait…

等一下！

the People’s Daily has a YouTube channel?

《人民日報》在 YouTube 上面也有頻道？

YouTube is blocked in China.

YouTube 在中國是被禁止的

But I guess there’s no harm in showing the rest of the world

但我猜把這麼可愛的中國小孩 播放給全球其他民眾

how cute Chinese toddlers can be, right?

也無傷大雅，不是嗎？

it sounds like he’s screaming,

聽起來他好像在尖叫：

“Don’t bully my grandma!”

「不要欺負我奶奶！」

Dang! He seems genuinely angry.

天呀！他看起來是真的很生氣

And these police,

而這些警察

well, they’re not really police.

嗯，其實也不真的算是警察

They’re called “chengguan” or “urban management.”

他們叫做「城管」也稱「城市管理」

Chengguan are the taskforce that’s supposed to enforce city laws

城管是個執法單位

related to street vendors, traffic, and so on.

用來維持街販、交通等等問題的城市秩序

But they have a reputation for being corrupt.

但他們也以腐敗

And brutal.

以及殘暴而聞名

Like that time in 2011

就像 2011 年有一次

when chengguan beat a one-legged fruit vendor to death.

城管將一位一腳殘缺的水果販毆打致死

Or in 2013,

或是 2013 年

when chengguan beat a watermelon vendor to death.

城管將一位西瓜販毆打致死

Or in 2014,

或是 2014 年

when chengguan assistants beat a 70-year-old man to death.

城管助理們將一名 70 歲的老人毆打致死

I mean, he did criticize them.

不過是他先批評城管的

But clearly,

但很顯然的

a three-year-old couldn’t have read those articles.

一個三歲小孩不可能去讀這些文章

No, he just intrinsically understands that these chengguan are bad guys.

他只是本能地了解到 這些城管們都是壞人

And if they’re after his grandma,

而如果他們要欺負他的奶奶

it’s worth taking the most extreme action to stop them.

就算要用最極端的方式 來阻止他們也是值得的

And the videos of this kid have become online sensations in China,

影片中的小孩也在中國的 網路上引起軒然大波

getting millions of views.

吸引了幾百萬人次的點閱率

Although there’s not much info on who this kid is

儘管關於這小孩是誰

or what the chengguan were doing to his grandma,

或是城管要對他奶奶 做甚麼的訊息並不多

it seems every netizen has an opinion.

但似乎網民們對此都有獨到的見解

This weibo user writes:

這名微博網友就寫道：

“His grandmother is so blessed.”

「他奶奶好幸福哦！」

This user said:

這位博友說：

“...This proves that from a child’s perspective,

「…可見城管在一個小孩的 心目中竟有這麼壞的形象

chengguan have a bad image. Thought-provoking.”

真是發人深省呀！」

And this user writes:

而這名博友寫道：

“This little boy has gone mad...

「這個小男孩火了！

and the adults don’t know how to restrain him.”

…大人們怎麼不知道團結起來推翻它」

There was even an online survey that got more than 100,000 responses.

網路上甚至有份問卷 有十萬多人投票

47% said “The kid’s just protecting his family,

47% 的人表示：€œ「只是一個小孩子

that’s all.”

對家人的保護而已」

35% said “First, I need to know if the chengguan

35% 的人則表示：€œ「先調查城管

had roughed them up prior [to the video].”

有沒有野蠻執法在先」

And 18% said “It’s a bit troubling

另外，18% 的人則表示

a child this young is resisting the law.”

「這麼小就「暴力抗法」，為其未來擔心」

I feel like this survey might be more of a reflection

我個人覺得這問卷倒比較像是

on what Chinese people think of standing up to authority in general.

中國普羅大眾對於抵抗 當權者的一種反思

And authorities better watch out.

當權者也最好當心點

Because someday, this toddler

因為也許某天

might become the next Ip Man.

這小孩會變成下一個葉問
