Lee Minyoung starts us off with what many analysts in the U.S. are projecting. Experts in the U.S. project that Washington will strengthen its alliance with South Korea under the Trump administration. Donald Manzullo, president of the Korea Economic Institute, said at conference on Thursday that the U.S.-South Korea alliance will remain strong under Trump. The relationship between South Korea and the U.S., he said, is unusual,... and nobody wants to see the quality of it impaired. The assessment out of the White House is also in line with such projections. White House press secretary Josh Earnest said at a briefing this week that there's a Democratic and Republican tradition to strengthen Washington's alliance with South Korea,... adding that the decades-long partnership 'supercedes' any individual presidency or political party. With Trump's victory adding some uncertainly to diplomatic relations between Seoul and Washington, the South Korean government, for its part, is already preparing possible policies for working with the incoming Trump administration. Seoul's foreign ministry said Thursday it has undertaken thorough preparations for the new U.S. leadership has remained in contact with Donald Trump's team over the past few months. It added that it will concentrate on continuing the allies' cooperation on dealing with North Korea. Lee Minyoung, Arirang News.
