  • - You and Portia--I think we talked about this before--

  • You and Portia grew up near each other in Australia.

  • - In the same country. - Yeah--in the same country.

  • [laughter]

  • - There's not many of us.

  • - Did you see each other often?

  • - Yeah, "Hello!" - Yeah.

  • - Yeah, in the same-- - No, you were in Melbourne.

  • Right? - Yeah, that's right.

  • - And then you moved to Sydney. - Yes.

  • Away from the spiders, the sharks, the snakes.

  • - Aren't they everywhere?

  • There really are the most deadly spiders and snakes anywhere--

  • - Well, no, we have more deadly snakes than people, actually,

  • so it is, you know.

  • But there--I was talking to someone earlier--

  • - She doesn't mean by "deadly people,"

  • she means by--just "people."

  • - We have a lot of deadly people too.

  • - Yes, but more snakes.

  • - I can't--look, I still can't-- It's a year later

  • and I still can't string a sentence together.

  • - [laughs] - Yes.

  • No, but actually, I was speaking to someone,

  • and they're all very frightened of the funnel-web spider,

  • which I think if you--if you get bitten, you've got 20 minutes.

  • And so I moved to Melbourne, away from the sharks,

  • to Sydney, to the place where the kids in the neighborhood

  • used to collect funnel webs-- 'cause they live in sandstone--

  • and then we buy a little place in the country,

  • and there's an even more poisonous spider

  • called the Blue Mountain funnel-web,

  • and I think you've got about seven minutes

  • to get to the hospital.

  • I know, it's terrifying. - Wow.

  • - I was in western Australia

  • filming this television series years and years ago,

  • and there was a thing that looked like,

  • you know, a Christmas beetle, and I went up towards it,

  • and it reared up and went... [snarls]

  • [laughter] I mean, they are really--

  • I--I'm not just saying--

  • - Well, that was probably like a--

  • like a wolf or something, that probably--

  • It may not have been a spider. It may have been something else.

  • - Oh, really? - Yes.

  • - A dingo. - Yes, maybe.

  • [laughter]

  • Maybe it was a dingo.

  • We're back with Cate Blanchett.

  • Playing the wicked, evil stepmother in "Cinderella,"

  • which must have been a little fun, to play that.

  • - A big stretch for me. - Yeah.

  • - Big, big stretch. - Uh-huh.

  • - [giggles] - No, it would be fun to play

  • somebody like that, because, you know, you're not that.

  • - I'm not young and beautiful.

  • Well, there's--there was a funny moment, actually,

  • when I said to some friends that I was,

  • you know, in the live-action "Cinderella,"

  • and they had a very sort of awkward pause when they really

  • wanted to say "You're a little old, aren't you?"

  • It's a bit "What Happened to Baby Jane?", you know.

  • But, yeah, so, I didn't get offered that part.

  • - No, you played something el-- - I took what I could.

  • - You--no, you took a good part, but I'll tell you,

  • the clothing was beautiful,

  • but, man, that looked uncomfortable.

  • - It was--look, I didn't have it as bad as Lily did.

  • I mean, she was-- in the ball scene,

  • she's cinched where-- got a 17-inch waist.

  • She could barely breathe--

  • in this one-- and she and Richard

  • had about 100 layers of wool on, and they had to dance.

  • it was like--they're like Torvil and Dean on ice.

  • You know, it was really, really athletic.

  • - Wow. - And Helena had these dresses,

  • the--as the fairy godmother,

  • and she literally needed some guy to plug her in.

  • It was covered in LED lights, so...

  • It was a bit hard to eat, to go to the bathroom--

  • - Yeah, I was gonna say-- - To breathe.

  • - Anything-- - Other than that, it was fine.

  • - Other than that. But it's a beautiful thing

  • to look at, it's really fun.

  • You've worked with a lot of talented actors,

  • and I thought we'd play a game.

  • You've kissed a lot of people,

  • and we're going to show you lips, and we're gonna see--

  • - Oh, it's not asses, we're looking at lips.

  • - Yes. - Okay.

  • [laughter]

  • - Would--would you rather-- which do you identify with more?

  • [laughter] - We'll do--let's do the lips.

  • - All right, let's do the lips. - It's a family show.

  • - 'Cause we don't have a lot of photos of asses around here.

  • We don't-- - I don't know, you could get--

  • you could get some.

  • - Just have 'em on file.

  • Well, I will, after this.

  • [laughter] Clearly.

  • You want to see my P.A.'s asses. - Yeah.

  • [laughter]

  • - All right, let's take a look at the first lips.

  • Do you know who that is?

  • - Leo DiCaprio. - Is it?

  • - Yes!

  • - You are so right! [bell dings]

  • [cheers and applause]

  • - Do I get--do I get $10,000 if I win?

  • - Yes. And you'll go on vacation.

  • - Okay. - To Spice Island.

  • Um, who's that?

  • - Oh, that's George Clooney.

  • (woman off-stage) Alec Baldwin. - Is it?

  • - It is? - No, I don't think it is.

  • - Oh, my God, it's Alec Baldwin. [buzzer]

  • - I was gonna guess that. - You were?

  • Have you kissed him? - No, I have not kissed him.

  • - But have you kissed his ass? - Uh, no.

  • [laughter]

  • I have not. - Ooh, I'm not telling.

  • - Have you kissed his ass? - I'm not telling.

  • - All right. [laughter]

  • Let's see some other lips.

  • Hmm. - Who is that?

  • [laughter]

  • - Yep. [loud laughter]

  • [buzzer]

  • - Did I--did I kiss Owen?

  • - I'm not going to show you any more lips.

  • I'm scared what you're gonna say.

  • [laughter]

  • Um-- - That's Russell.

  • Is that Russell--I think you're right on that one.

  • I agree with you. [bell dings]

  • All right, so here-- I have a gift for you.

  • I have some Ellen underwear,

  • and my friends, my P.A.s, brought them to you.

  • Where are you guys?

  • [cheers and applause]

  • ["Pony" by Ginuwine plays]

  • - Thank you. - [speaks indistinctly]

  • - Oh! Oh, thank you.

  • Thank you.

  • [laughter]

  • This is so nice!

  • - It goes with your stripe on your--

  • - It does! - It's fantastic.

  • [cheers and applause]

  • - It looks good 'cause it works with the yellow there.

  • See? Like that.

  • - Whoa. [cheers and applause]

  • - Yeah! - Whoo!

  • - "Cinderella" opens in theaters next Friday.

  • We'll be right back. Cate Blanchett.

- You and Portia--I think we talked about this before--
