  • *annoying loud clapping*

  • good job us

  • Hi there everyone, so today I'm here with my good friend Dodie and my good friend Savannah

  • Hello

  • Hello

  • One of them is American, one of them is British

  • Which one? Who is it? You'll never know

  • So Savannah how long have you been living in the UK now?

  • I've been living in the UK since last August, so a little more than a year, bit more than a year

  • So you've got enough knowledge now

  • Oh yeah, I've gotten the general

  • About food

  • Yes

  • Lots of gripes

  • Now originally this video was just gonna be me and Savannah, just having a little rant

  • but I figured we needed to throw Dodie in as the British person

  • to hopefully stand up for some of the things we're gonna complain about

  • Yeah!

  • Cause, as me and savannah have lived in both countries I feel we have a right to complain about the state of affairs in England

  • Just to start off with I guess eating etiquette

  • I think it's a bit strange that British people eat with their forks upside down?

  • Did you notice that?

  • Yeah they do

  • It's like using a shovel upside down to dig holes

  • I'm sorry, I'm sorry but whenever I see you eat things you carve it out with your fork because you don't have a knife in your other hand

  • Evan doesn't know how to use a knife

  • That's not an American thing, just Evan doesn't know how to use a knife

  • You don't need a knife, a fork is nice enough

  • Yes you do!

  • A fork is nice enough, knife enough

  • You literally, oh Jesus

  • First thing that did strike me though, is when people eat French Fries with forks?

  • I've seen people here, eating their pizza with a fork

  • Yeah! Bizarre

  • Maybe it's because the pizza is so bad?

  • I've not had, I've had a very very few good pizzas in England

  • Oh I've had good pizza

  • Shut up!

  • In England, Domino's is considered a good place to eat

  • It is though, I do like Domino's

  • What is wrong?

  • Papa Johns!

  • Sorry? Papa Johns. Oh, Papa Johns, yep. Papa Johns is also just a bad chain

  • Shut up, it's so good! No it's not!

  • They make it right in front of your eyes!

  • It's not, like, I don't know. I come from an area where the pizza,

  • every single block is 80 different-

  • John's, mom's, dad's. Every single block

  • Every single- it's a block

  • And the reason that I think the pizza is so bad here

  • Is because they cut it with scissors as well

  • that's just one of the annoying things - yeah - yeah

  • Yeah, that's bizarre - no, it's not

  • Yes, it is - It is literally

  • Imagine taking a pair of scissors and cutting some paper

  • and then going "You know what? This pizza could use that"

  • Let me just lift up my thin flap

  • would you rather, hack it away again or

  • it's a pizzaroller

  • you have to hack rather than cutting (Evan: it's not a hack it's a roll)

  • Do you know how wheels are?

  • yeah but you have to go back and forth like that

  • She's trying

  • Curry is not a thing in America

  • It's not yeah that's what I was gonna say

  • I had curry for the first time when I came here (Evan: SAME!)

  • and I was like; oh this is nice NO

  • you don't get like takeaway Curry?

  • there's no such, no like when I told my mom I was having Curry she was like

  • oh that's so like, is it just like, liquid and spices?

  • Foreign - yeah - yeah, and I went, no just rice

  • I went to one indian place in Philly

  • and it was just a place where you had to eat with your hands

  • Like you weren't allowed to use forks and knives - What

  • and curry is like the national staple food of England nowadays

  • yeah it's bizzare

  • I have to say! British people do, do cheese a bit better than us

  • thank you!

  • Dodie loves cheese!

  • I love cheese and I've tried american cheese and it's like weird it has melted

  • Do you have cheese in a can?

  • yeah what is that! (Cheeky Evan: I love cheese in a can!!)

  • you like spray it in your mouth (Evan: Cheez Wiz)

  • I think breakfast in both countries have their own appeal

  • EVAN: where as (DODIE: Oh c'mon!)SAVANNAH: No I wanna

  • EVAN: I love a good english breakfast (DODIE: Thank you!) SAVANNAH: yeah but...

  • EVAN: like it's all savoury but (SAVANNAH: but - let's bring in the but)

  • Bring in the but's

  • you guys don't know how - your pancakes are big old flat pieces of paper

  • DODIE: oh c'mon! that's so! you fold them up and then eat them (EVAN: and you're like; let's fill them with stuff because their so vial)

  • SAVANNAH: no cause that's a crape (EVAN: that's not a pancake, that's a crape)

  • It's a bit crape

  • DODIE: crape? crepe (EVAN: that's a crape, we call them crapes

  • SAVANNAH: have you had an American pancake?

  • DODIE: yeah their alright bit thick bit stoggy

  • SAVANNAH: that's how I feel about you! (EVAN: just like our people!)

  • EVAN: Well, um we're getting a bit....violent

  • EVAN: make out

  • EVAN: OH NO! (DODIE: OH SHIT!) SAVANNAH: sorry

  • EVAN: if you missed that, nothing happened

  • EVAN: cider! I miss apple cider, like it's such an autumn/fall (DODIE: I love cider! oh c'mon!) SAVANNAH: yeah, oh

  • SAVANNAH: I thought you meant, no I agree(EVAN: no, and then also in England cider is alcohol)

  • SAVANNAH: that is the one thing when I go back home to the states

  • SAVANNAH: so yes I do miss cider, no (DODIE: yeah you don't have like rekorderlig and stuff)

  • EVAN: I miss apple cider when I'm here and I miss alcoholic cider when I'm in America (SAVANNAH: yeah, yes, I agree)

  • EVAN: they're both beautiful, why can't I live in a place that has both?!

  • Whats your apple cider? EVAN: its like apple juice

  • but yet spicy.

  • spices. Its called spiced apple

  • cider sometimes.(SAVANAH: yes, yes it is)

  • Its like cinnamony kinda. EVAN: its autumn

  • like. DODIE: oh that sounds so nice.

  • SAVANAH: It is really nice, you go to like. (DODIE: I want that but also alcoholic)

  • well in Ohio at least

  • we had like little autumn fairs.

  • EVAN: Yep. SAVANAH: where you'd go and like go on

  • hay rides and like pick your pumpkins

  • and have some cider.

  • EVAN: and you can also pick apples cause its that time of season.

  • Bacon is a bit weird here, it looks

  • sort of like canadian bacon, which is ham.

  • DODIE: yeah i don't like our bacon i much prefer your bacon.

  • cause it's like thin and there's no fat on it

  • and its not stringy or slimy its like *crunching noises*

  • EVAN: beans for breakfast

  • i've come to accept as a thing.

  • I can put beans on toast now that I've lived here for three years

  • beans on toast and cheese is like the best

  • but when i still think beans i immediately think bbq baked beans(savannah: yeah yeah) with hotdogs

  • yeah exactly

  • what, what's that

  • You guys, in my opinion, do coffee better than in America

  • Very wrong, very wrong here in England

  • Something that was like a huge issue for me

  • was the term "silverware"

  • I just use that for any silverware they don't say that word ever

  • cutlery?

  • I only just realised today Oat Meal is Porridge basically

  • Yeah

  • I didn't know that

*annoying loud clapping*
