I'm Alex and I've got the fate of the fall season shows in today's Cancellation Buzz. You may have already guessed it, but NBC's The Playboy Club has officially become the first casualty of the new fall season. Aside from battling loads of controversy because of its content, the show just couldn't pull in the ratings. Prime Suspect has been selected to fill its Monday slot, and as of now, NBC has no plans to air the bunnies' remaining episodes. In possible danger is ABC's Charlie's Angels and CBS's How to be a Gentleman, which both seem to be struggling in the ratings against FOX's viewer-hogging X Factor. Also pulling in weak ratings is Patrick Wilson's A Gifted Man and Hank Azaria's unimpressive workplace comedy, Free Agents. Speaking of Hank Azaria, surprisingly enough The Simpsons could also be in danger of cancellation. Bitter contract disputes could lead to FOX completely killing production if the show's voice actors don't take a whopping 45% paycut. Would you be sad to see the cartoon go after 23 seasons on the air? Now on to the good news! Zooey Deschanel's "New Girl" on FOX earned the honor of being the first freshman show of the season to earn a full-season pick-up. Shortly after that, NBC comedies Whitney and Up All Night were also picked up for full seasons, followed by 2 Broke Girls on CBS. Apparently there's still plenty of room for sitcom success in this reality TV saturated world.
