  • good morning are the sun is right in our face right now because it's 7 48.

  • And the sunrise here is actually pretty early in Arizona, we're in Mesa Arizona, which is about 30 minutes east of phoenix.

  • And we're on our way to the Apache trail, which is one of the most scenic drives in Arizona and it goes on for about 40 miles.

  • And um the 1st 20 miles are paved in the next 20 miles are dirt roads.

  • So we're gonna do the paved roads for sure.

  • And the first stop is um Goldfield Ghost town.

  • So this used to be an authentic goldmine which no longer exists.

  • So they made um, you know like a tourist attraction out of it and there's a restaurant there and some other attractions, but it's like a west, it looks like a western theme.

  • Um I'm sure that's how it was before, but like they have a saloon there and they kind of kept everything pretty original I guess.

  • But for us it's updated and we have the dogs with us too.

  • So all these places that we're going to is dog friendly.

  • Uh we could take them to this gold field or the Goldfield, the Goldfield Ghost Town.

  • Um Not, we can't go to any other attractions with the dogs, but we could explore the area and then next we're gonna go to the Lost Dutchman State Park, that is dog friendly.

  • There's lots of trails there.

  • So we're gonna check that out.

  • We made our rice balls and uh some sandwiches.

  • So we're hoping we could eat our lunch at the next stop, which is Canyon Lake and it's dog friendly there as well.

  • And they have some picnic tables there from there.

  • We're gonna go to believe it was tortilla flat and tortilla flat as a stop.

  • Another little western town.

  • Um, where, where an old, you know, replica western town where they have some restaurants.

  • So it's a good break for food if you're hungry.

  • Once you hit the Canyon Lake area, you're gonna be in the tonto National Forest.

  • So you'll need a daily pass and you need this for parking there.

  • And to just be in the, I guess, yeah, parking Is mainly what it's for.

  • So you can get these daily passes that a lot of retailers in um, Arizona or I guess the message Phoenix area.

  • All right.

  • Here it is.

  • Goldfield goes down, it says Goldfield 1893.

  • They are ready to go and explore.

  • So there's a mind to, or you can do here at Goldfield Mine tour later in the day.

  • Right now it's not open.

  • That's the Superstition Mountains back there.

  • So there are several eateries here.

  • They have the coffee cantina bakery.

  • They had the grill up front and then that's the mammoth saloon looks like.

  • They got some horseback rides.

  • I got two tours and they have a mind to or they have a jeep tour and a horseback ride restrooms over here too.

  • Mm hmm mm hmm.

  • Yeah, there's a gold field station here.

  • And you can actually take a little train around natural railroad and go around this little little town and it goes around and of course we can't do it because we got the doggies, but it'll be fun with family even if it was just me and candy, we would totally do it.

  • It's a little train over there.

  • Okay, so we just got done with Goldfield ghost town and it was really cool in there.

  • It really seemed it was probably the best ghost town with the western thing that we've been to.

  • And when we went, nothing was open yet, which is perfect because we got to explore with the dogs and take some cool photos.

  • And so now we're heading to uh Lost Dutchman State Park, which is just like right down the road, it's only like two minutes away.

  • Also at the ghost town.

  • Nothing is open until 10 a.m. Mhm.

  • Just parked just parked at the TROIA parking.

  • But we went through uh the gate, the lady up front where we played paid her $10.

  • And um she was so nice.

  • Yeah, very helpful with suggestions.

  • Yeah.

  • Um but then she was like, oh you have two dogs, like can they get treats?

  • So they got treats help?

  • No.

  • And then we asked what suggestions she had for like a good trail for dogs.

  • And she suggested the Treasure Loop Trail because it's low in elevation, it's only 500 ft.

  • And um so yeah, we're packed at the choi a parking lot that's where it starts.

  • But we're looking at the brochure and there are some like other really short trails that we could probably do.

  • Like the native plant trail Which is only .25 miles and the discovery trail which is .7 miles and a nice picnic table there.

  • We've got a beautiful sky.

  • That's the Superstition Mountain Treasure Loop Trail # 56.

  • Here we go.

  • So here is the map of the the Lost Dutchman State Park where we came in.

  • Mm hmm.

  • And then the ranger station we drove up and we parked here, Christie is the bathroom here.

  • Now we're here starts here and it goes around.

  • I like that.

  • Yeah, I think that whole thing is two so we did a little bit of the Treasure Loop Trail and now we're gonna head back and do a couple of other trails.

  • Miss kuma is not so good with trails, especially like rocky ones, it's mostly dirt but there's rocks that she has to climb over sometimes and she's got those tiny legs so she can't handle it.

  • Also just make sure that the dogs stay on trail because Zoe got some spines on her little booty.

  • Oh my gosh I freaked out because she sat down which I actually told her to sit and then when she got up it was like right on her but I had to pull it out luckily it wasn't really in her that far in, but luckily we got it out, so just be careful.

  • Um, because that happened to me, Saguaro National Park human just kind of wandered off and she got spines and her paws, I had to be like take it out and it was pretty hard to take out that one with Zoe that luckily that's pretty easy to take out.

  • This is a lovely park though to take your dog on walks because we've seen so many dogs already on this trail.

  • Yeah, I mean every other person has a dog.

  • Yeah, that's great.

  • Yeah, it's the most, it's like the most dogs I've ever seen at a park.

  • Yeah.

  • Okay, so we were going to do more hikes at the Lost Dutchman State Park.

  • But one of the trails we wanted to do was only for campers staying there and then the other trail.

  • Look, I'm fine.

  • So we're just gonna move on with the Apache trail and continue on the Kenyan Lake.

  • Now, thank you.

  • Right before you hit Canyon Lake, you'll see Canyon Lake vista and you have a beautiful view of this lake.

  • You don't even have a nice shaded area for you to look at it.

  • I feel like they used to have information here, but took it away, take some pictures here.

  • Looks very lovely.

  • This Canyon Lake over here is man made and created by the stamp and there's four lakes that produced from that and they say that the Canyon Lake is the most beautiful.

  • His leg is probably gonna be cool.

  • Yeah.

  • Look at the cookies.

  • I actually found this nice area at Canyon Lake.

  • There's several picnic tables, actually, a lot of picnic tables, some people fishing.

  • And now we're gonna eat our packed lunch and enjoy the views.

  • So we packed our favorite rice balls.

  • Uh, so candy did her rice seasoning one and I did my traditional with seaweed.

  • So if you want to learn how to make these, we did a video on it.

  • So check it out.

  • And I also made some sandwiches.

  • I cut it into little pieces because I like little bite sized pieces.

  • No.

  • Yeah, thank you.

  • So we were going to have a nice lunch out there by the lake, but there's so many bees after setting everything up and like all these bees were swarming us around us and we're like, okay, we can't like this isn't gonna work.

  • So now we're going to eat in the car and then we'll take the dogs to the lake afterwards.

  • But man, that was crazy.

  • It is disappointing you like that grandma come, are you cool?

  • Be careful, be careful.

  • I don't think so girl, we've been having a lot of problems here at Canyon, like it's very beautiful.

  • But first of all, there's tons of bees.

  • So we tried to have lunch at the picnic table, but the bees were there.

  • So that didn't work out.

  • And then um, we ate in the car, which that worked out fine.

  • But then when we got out preparing the dogs will be came inside the car.

  • So we had to get that out and then kuma decides to buy herself and horse poo.

  • So we had to clean that up.

  • And then now there's like glass.

  • We find out like these uh shore here, which sucks like why do people do that?

  • And now now I think we're finally having some good dog time at the lake.

  • I think all that like at least 40 minutes.

  • I'm a little bit tired And as you can tell just so I can just relax and enjoy the view.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Right.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Yeah.

  • Yeah, we're coming up on the one lane bridge.

  • So you've got to stop and let the other cars go through our turn.

  • Mhm.

  • Yeah.

  • Mm hmm.

  • Okay.

  • So now we are making our last stop on the paved part of the road which is tortilla flats.

  • The view gets more and more gorgeous.

  • The more you drive down this Apache trail.

  • Thank you.

  • What you doing what you're doing right there.

  • I'm coming for you.

  • Let's think about this town karma.

  • They have a post office here.

  • Look at the toilet says.

  • Thank you.

  • Thank you.

  • Maybe they found the secret room.

  • There's so much information in there was established on this spot.

  • September 23, to 14 students attended.

  • It's got the famous prickly pear gelato.

  • Does it taste like watermelon taste like bubblegum?

  • I see what they say about the bubblegum.

  • It has like that, that original bubblegum flavor.

  • A little bit very light though.

  • It's not a flavor.

  • I would personally water myself, but it's not bad with music that goes with it.

  • I don't think she knows she can eat the cone, but there you go, You can eat it.

  • There you go.

  • Yeah, yeah.

  • Yeah.

  • I like this place.

  • I know it's fun, good music.

  • Alright, so we completed the page part of Apache trail.

  • It's pretty easy.

  • It's very easy.

  • Um From here on out, it's all dirt roads and then gets even more windy.

  • Um So we're just gonna head back.
