What's up?
It's Sussan Mourad here with Clevver News and on her cooking show, Selena Gomez managed
to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for over 20 organizations, all while putting
out literal fires in her kitchen.
In case you missed it, this past year while many of us were sitting on the couch, Selena
Gomez was writing new music, releasing her makeup line, and starring in her own new cooking
show.
Her cooking show Selena + Chef was such a success in its first season, that HBO Max
immediately picked it up for season 2.
“As you all know by now, I'm not the best cook.
How are your knife skills these days?
Umm I know how to do this.
Selena terrifies me with the knives.”
And while Sel admittingly isn't the best chef, she said she's still trying to get
better with the help of some of the world's top chefs.
The new season just premiered and there are new episodes dropping every week through this
week.
But there was one moment in the show that has everyone talking.
Selena was cooking with Chef Kelis Rogers, yes you know, the singer of the iconic song
'Milkshake' is now a top chef.
And Selena literally lit her kitchen on fire just trying to saute some butter.
You've gotta see this.
“You're gonna turn that on low.
Ahhh oh my gosh.
Turn it off!
What is happening?
What happened?
It's off.”
Thankfully Kelis stepped in and told Selena
how to put the fire out amid panic from Selena's friends.
Sel also stayed so calm, cool and collected, though at first, she did try to blow the big
fire out.
“What is going on?
Is there a fire extinguisher?
What just lit on fire?
The butter in the sauce pan.
You wanna cover it.”
And now hopefully Selena will make sure her stovetop is actually on low, not high, when
she's cooking up butter.
TAKE NOTE EVERYONE, cook butter on LOW not HIGH!
Real talk, I probably would have had it on high too.
Fires aside, Selena's show has done some incredible work when it comes to raising money
for charity.
In each episode, the chef Selena works with gets to pick an organization they care about
to donate money to.
According to People Magazine, over the first two seasons, Sel raised $360,000 for 23 nonprofit
organizations.
Some of the charities that received the funds raised include No Kid Hungry, Smile Train,
Feeding America, NAACP, Postpartum Support International, and Feeding San Diego just
to name a few.
Let's note there were a ton more charities that also got funds!
And fans of Selena's know that these donations are only a fraction of her current charity
work.
Last year she also launched her 'Rare Impact Fund' with the goal of raising $100 million
to go towards mental health.
As if there weren't already enough reasons to stan Selena, we love how important giving
back to others is to her!
And her HBO Max cooking show really is the gift that keeps on giving.
If you guys haven't watched yet, I highly suggest checking out the new season.
You can cook alongside Sel and whip up some impressive recipes!
Though, make sure your stove tops are on low if the chef says low.
I wouldn't want any fires starting in your homes!
Three brand new episodes of Selena + Chef drop on Thursday, but there's plenty to
catch up on until then.
