  • LIZZIE: Coming up on this spectacular we've got

  • unicycle football.

  • CARLY: We've got botaoshi.

  • LIZZIE: We have something called sepaktakraw.

  • CARLY: We've got Johnball.

  • LIZZIE: Johnball!

  • CARLY: Johnball!

  • But first, cheese rolling.

  • LIZZIE: Hey everybody, I'm Lizzie.

  • CARLY: And I'm Carly

  • LIZZIE: And we thought we'd spend the entire day today

  • talking about fringe sports videos.

  • CARLY: Yeah, there are an unbelievable amount of videos

  • on the internet about sports that you did not know existed.

  • LIZZIE: Yeah, I mean it's fine if you

  • like baseball, basketball, soccer, I don't know what

  • any of those are, but these videos, you've probably

  • never seen before and they're amazing.

  • CARLY: They're out of control.

  • So the first one we're going to talk to you about

  • is cheese rolling.

  • The objective is to chase a block of cheese down a hill.

  • This is the 2013 cheese rolling competition at Cooper's Hill.

  • This guy looks like a guy I went to college with.

  • LIZZIE: Me too.

  • CARLY: Everyone went to college with a guy

  • that looked like this.

  • OK, this dude is Kenny Rackers, who travelled 4,000 miles just

  • to compete.

  • LIZZIE: So, here he goes.

  • CARLY: Oh, my god.

  • LIZZIE: Watch him.

  • CARLY: Watch him go.

  • LIZZIE: Look at Kenny go.

  • Look at Kenny go.

  • Look at him.

  • Oh, my god!

  • CARLY:Oh!

  • Oh, that guy just did a face plant.

  • LIZZIE: Wait, wait, wait.

  • Look, look, look.

  • CARLY: OK, bottom right here, we have

  • a man who is most definitely unconscious.

  • LIZZIE: The amount of face plants

  • that happen in this video, I don't understand

  • why this thing is not bigger.

  • MILES: So guys, I got a crazy video for you.

  • It's from Japan.

  • It's a wild sport called botaoshi.

  • Can you say that?

  • CARLY: No.

  • MILES: Just try, botaoshi.

  • Botaoshi, it's real easy.

  • Anyway, this is a military sport from Japan

  • and I'll give you a little bit more

  • in here when we start getting into it.

  • Are you ready?

  • CARLY: I'm ready.

  • MILES: Here we go.

  • This video is from, actually a Military Academy in Japan.

  • The white team is trying to protect the pole

  • from the blue invaders who are trying to pull the pole down.

  • CARLY: Is this just a military game?

  • MILES: It started as a military exercise,

  • but believe it or not, they play it in elementary schools.

  • It seems kind of sad--

  • CARLY: Who let's their kid play this?

  • MILES: What do you mean who lets their kid?

  • A great parent.

  • CARLY: He just ran over three peoples' heads to get there.

  • MILES: Yes, that's called athleticism.

  • CARLY: That guy is ripping his own shirt off.

  • MILES: He's angry.

  • CARLY: Would you play this?

  • MILES: No, I'm too fragile, my face, I can't mess this up.

  • CARLY: Yeah.

  • ALI: All right you guys, this is Johnball.

  • This JOHNBALLforever channel has 71 subscribers.

  • MILES: Criminal.

  • ALI: You basically just hit the ball back and forth

  • at each other trying to hit other people.

  • Sort of like dodge ball with bats.

  • MILES: Oh, OK.

  • What country did this start in?

  • Is this like a uniquely--

  • ALI: Right here in the US of A.

  • MILES: America--

  • ALI: America

  • MILES: Johnball

  • ALI: USA, USA.

  • MILES: There was even a mom.

  • ALI: Yep, there's a mom.

  • MILES: This mom-- oh, schooled by a mom.

  • Oh, right in the dome.

  • Oh, this guy has--

  • ALI: Oh, whoa.

  • That was a cartwheel.

  • MILES: He's in tights.

  • ALI: Anybody can play.

  • MILES: Well, we got to go because we're

  • going to get some bats and some balls

  • and we're j-balling it up right now in the parking lot.

  • ALI: Yeah, we are.

  • MILES: Sorry

  • ALI: It's on, it's on.

  • MILES: Later.

  • I wish I pushed further.

  • So this sport we're about to watch is called sepaktakraw.

  • The rules are similar to volleyball.

  • You hit the ball over the net to your other opponent,

  • try and make them not return the ball.

  • And you can use feet, head, flips, kicks, all of that.

  • EARNEST: Flips are the best part.

  • MILES: It started off as a ancient Chinese military

  • exercise.

  • EARNEST: It's probably more fun this way,

  • than instead of in the military.

  • MILES: I can already feel my hips

  • dislocating just when I watch it.

  • It's very uncomfortable for me.

  • OK, that was a can-can kick.

  • EARNEST: High kicks, right?

  • Look at them trying to block it with their feet.

  • That is what is amazing.

  • It looks like the girls are just as

  • good as the guys at this game, and I think that's pretty cool.

  • MILES: Yeah, I don't think there's

  • any advantage you get over the other one.

  • I think maybe women might be even more of an advantage

  • because women are more flexible than men.

  • We're stiff.

  • We're cavemen.

  • EARNEST: Well, speak for yourself.

  • MILES: Oh, hitch kick, for my dancers out there.

  • EARNEST: So this video just has 3,000 views,

  • which is ridiculous because this has

  • got to be the most exciting sport.

  • MILES: I highly recommend that you

  • are the 913th subscriber to this channel.

  • EARNEST: You want to know who the 912th was?

  • ALEX: Miles, are you a fan of football?

  • MILES: Dude, I love the Dodgers.

  • ALEX: Are you a fan of two wheels on a bicycle?

  • MILES: No.

  • ALEX: Well, I've got a video for you Miles, unicycle football.

  • MILES: What?

  • ALEX: This is a real league, by the way.

  • MILES: Are the rules basically football, but with a unicycle?

  • ALEX: If you fall off the unicycle like that,

  • he's now out of play.

  • MILES: Oh, killer air.

  • ALEX: This is definitely a niche thing.

  • MILES: No?

  • ALEX: They never tell you what the wives' reaction to them

  • wanting to play this is.

  • MILES: Assuming that there are wives to have reactions.

  • It's pretty hard core.

  • I like that it's funky, you can bring your own style to it.

  • There's no real uniform.

  • And so I think any sport like that,

  • it allows for a little bit of self expression.

  • ALEX: If you want to open your sports mind,

  • subscribe to birdsiview.

  • MILES: This guy has a beer and he's running on the side line

  • like he has something to do with the game.

  • ALEX: He's clearly the coach.

  • MILES: Ah.

  • ALEX: Because you can't coach the sober.

  • CARLY: Which one of these crazy sports was your favorite?

  • LIZZIE: Oh, [BLEEP].

  • CARLY: Tell us in the comments.

  • You are ruining this, more than I ruined it.

  • LIZZIE: I'm so tired.

  • Do that, and then play us out-- I'm crying a little bit.

  • They're just watering up.

  • CARLY: You've probably seen a lot of things

  • today that you didn't expect you'd ever see.

  • Which crazy sport was your favorite?

  • Post a comment and tell us.

  • LIZZIE: Also, there's a playlist after the show

  • with even more crazy stuff.

  • CARLY: Yeah, and if we missed anything,

  • you should tell us using the hashtag #youtubenation.

  • LIZZIE: Yes, please.

  • Now play us out chessboxing.

  • BOTH: Chessboxing!

  • [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]

LIZZIE: Coming up on this spectacular we've got
