  • this view gets me excited back there.

  • The city I came out here and see.

  • Noticed before I'm high.

  • I'm ready to go.

  • I'm just letting you guys know right now.

  • Uh um, you know, just I have a lot of respect for Elton and I got to watch him.

  • I says a younger player to be on our team and see how professional he waas how he took care of his body really respected him, just seeing how he did it when he was with those.

  • And I'll tell you a quick story about him.

  • We were getting ready to go to dinner one night.

  • Some of the guys and I were about to get in the elevator.

  • We get into a city that's you, go out and have dinner.

  • He was just in the elevator, going to his room, but he was coming from the gym sweating.

  • He just did, like, an hour of cardio, and he was just drench.

  • So, like, his commitment to wanting to win and do the right things, you know, inspired me back then and I think that he you know, he believes he believed in me.

  • He believes in this group and what we can do.

  • And when they came knocking and approach me, it felt right.

  • And that's why I'm excited to be here.

  • Because I know that he wants what's best for this city for Philadelphia and what we're trying to do right here.

  • Kyle knew back.

  • Philly voice.

  • This is for either of Joshua.

  • Out.

  • Was bringing Jimmy Butler back a priority this offseason, and if so, why do you think you guys parted ways?

  • You know, first of all, very happy for Jimmy that you landed in a place he wanted to be.

  • I won't go into in depth about the negotiations, but, you know, he had a great season for us.

  • And we appreciate all that he contributed to us.

  • Just want to wish him well, wishing to us in his radio 94 w in the Are you expecting offensively?

  • Uh, least in the early goings with this new starting five.

  • For there to be a challenge creating separation.

  • Yeah, I look forward to training camp.

  • I look forward to training camp, figure all that out defensively.

  • Of course, that's what we're gonna wear.

  • Our hat should be one of the top defensive teams in the league, in my opinion, but we'll figure out this base and we have a lot of versatility.

  • Al Horford in space.

  • We know Jo Ellan Beacon Space bends working on his game.

  • Josh is, Ah, high level scoring.

  • Tobias is a high level shooter and scorer also, so we're looking forward to making that work training camp.

  • But it's going to take some time.

  • It should take some time.

  • Elton Jeffs cover ski from Channel six to kind of go back to the Jimmy Butler storyline.

  • How disappointed are you that you make that trade give up a lot of assets?

  • And as excited as you are to have this group here and as talented as his team is to give up that much for Jimmy Butler.

  • For him not to come back.

  • How disappointed are you that you couldn't make that work when we went into it last year?

  • It was Hopefully, Jimmy found a great fit, and hopefully we did also, um, I'd make that trade again.

  • He gave us a great playoff run last year, but to have a player like Josh Richardson that allowed us to have a player like Al Horford join the team this year, So I'm not upset at all about that trip buys.

  • What is stability mean to you now, this stage, your career being in a situation that's gonna presumably bring you stability?

  • Yeah.

  • I mean, it means a whole lot for me.

  • You know, everybody knows.

  • Over course of my career, I've been in different situations.

  • But coming into the meeting here in free agency, what was presented, um, the culture of the organization, the love of the city and just, you know, the thirds toe get back to where we were and get even further into game championship hearing in my meeting, just the possibilities of getting these guys that are standing sitting up here with me was also one of the most appealing things in the pitch.

  • And for May, it was just a win win toe to come here to be in a situation where I can continue to develop and to be somewhere to win for many years to come.

  • So I'm excited for that.

  • And, you know, obviously we hope this is definitely you know, I signed a five year deal, so I want to finish my career here.

  • Hopefully, God willing.

  • Um, Al Martin are due to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

  • You had obviously a bunch of suitors that were, you know, wanting the sign you was a chance to win a championship was at higher.

  • I upon to come here while you Yeah, that was that was a priority for me.

  • You know, I think the opportunity to play for this type of organisation for for this city was something that I really had to consider and look at.

  • And then when you add the potential of this group on what I've seen Coach Brown leading the way and obviously Joel Ben Tobias, uh, all the upside that we have and now we just finish assembling our group on every time that I kept looking at seeing.

  • The point is that we were signing, You know, I kept getting more excited.

  • We got Kyle.

  • I was like, Yes, you know, I saw Josh came through, and it's resigned, like, you know, saw the Netto got here like we got.

  • We got a good group here, and and that really got me excited.

  • Got me but more excited.

  • You know, I felt like we were in a good place and I feel really good about our future.

  • Serena Winters, NBC Sports Philadelphia is actually for two bias.

  • And for Joshua.

  • You guys are both Tennessee alums, and he didn't play the same time.

  • But I'm curious that you guys have a relationship at all beforehand.

  • Did you already know each other?

  • Have you been talking through this process?

  • Uh, yeah.

  • Actually, um, Tobias was actually leaving Tennessee when I got there.

  • So, you know, myself and another freshman who were there to bias actually took us out to dinner when I was 17 years old, you know, just left home, you know, So I didn't really know anything.

  • You know, he took me out to dinner and just kind of talked to me about how toe approach basketball, how to approach college, you know, handle myself in life.

  • And, you know, I always appreciated that.

  • I think, you know, I took he to that and kind of handle myself that way throughout school.

  • And I'm excited to, you know, play with them, compete with him every day in practice, and keep making ourselves better.

  • And I remember Josh coming in.

  • It was a lockout year, so I was going back to school because my mom made me, but But I just remember it was a brand new coach that came into Tennessee and brand new freshmen, and Josh was one of them in just seeing him in the gym and how hungry he was and wasn't a five star recruiter would not.

  • But he was always in there working, and one of the coaches came to me one day.

  • It was like that kid, Josh Levs is gonna be a pro, and I was like, Well, he's always in the gym, So it's a good chance, you know?

  • I'm not knocking anybody who works there.

  • Tail off.

  • Sure enough, drafted by Miami, one of the most underrated players in the NBA.

  • So really toe.

  • Take him out to dinner and help him get to the MBA.

  • Because that's why he's in the NBA now is just so you know that it is good to see him where he's at, and he's done a terrific job from the first day I seen him step on campus, so it's awesome.

  • Carlin, Sixers wire Al.

  • How much of your battles but Joe really play into any decision to want to come here?

  • Well, I I think I've said this.

  • In the past, I've always been a fan of Joel.

  • Just everything he brings on the court, off the court.

  • And, you know, uh, there were some great battles on when this opportunity came along and the possibility of teaming up with him, you know, got me really excited about the potential.

  • How how good we can be help our team defensively.

  • You know, just get to working together, Um, and, uh, do some special things, so I'm very grateful to be in this position.
