today's question is how do I pronounce the word lateral which could mean moving

towards the side of something or in medical terms it'll often mean one side

of something of the body so let's take a look at the word it is spelled l a t e r a l this is actually a pretty easy

lesson today I'm going to teach it two different ways number one think of

saying the word ladder like the ladder behind me that everyone always asks

about that goes to a loft that just collects dust that word is ladder and

you're gonna say that word and then add the l lateral lateral if you need a

little bit more help if that's a little bit of a struggle for you start with

syllable one la to do that touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your

top front teeth and then pull it down towards the bottom of your mouth that's

going to be way down the bottom of your mouth you're gonna open your mouth

really wide for that ah la next add the der do this by touching the tip of

your tongue to the back of your top front teeth and then move to that er

sound you could make that er sound with your tip the tip of your tongue

pointed towards the bottom of your mouth and the back of your tongue bunched up

or the tip of your tongue pulled back rolled back towards the back of your

mouth just do not touch your teeth and do not let your tongue move so that

that are flaps or trills ladder and then end with the l by opening your mouth

slightly just relax it a little bit for that sound and then you're going to go

ahead and touch the tip of your tongue to the back of your top front teeth for

the l la der l lateral lateral lateral lateral I did some bilateral

exercises this morning during my workout give it a try
