And he always invites me to his game nights, and I'm never able to make it. And now I'm glad I haven't, because he's not very good. -[ Laughs ] I've been to a couple. They're pretty fun. How is everything going through the quarantine? Are you homeschooling? How's that going? -I mean, homeschool is happening. Zaire does not trust us to even look at... She's like, "I'll wait for my tutors. Don't." -[ Laughs ] Like, "Yeah. Mom, Dad, I know you're smart, but, please, I got this." -Yeah. Like, somebody said, "How are you on the new math?" And I'm like, "I wasn't solid on the old math." Um, yeah, but otherwise, Kaav is addicted to Dave and Ava and "Word Party." Today she said, "Purple," so I feel like we're making headway. -[ Laughs ] Congratulations. What are you and Dwyane doing at home to stay fit? -You know, I am a part of FitOn. I have some workouts on this free fitness app, and Dwyane was like, "I'll be your trainer for this fitness app. You know, you can record some stuff, you know, you and your little sister." And it sounded like a great idea until he turned into Bobby Knight. -[ Laughs ] -...fitness videos. And he was so serious, and me and my little sister are just, like, snickering in the background. So, yeah. I wanted to, like, reach out to some of his former teammates and be like, "I get it. Sorry, guys. Sorry. You know, he IS a jerk." -[ Laughs ] -His expectations were a little off. -How's he dealing with no sports on? Is he just watching "The Last Dance" every second of the day? -Like, "The Last Dance," old games, his games. -He watches his games? -Oh, like he doesn't know how they end. The other week, we watched the '06 Finals. And, obviously, I had seen it over the years, but, like, never with him, you know? Like, he's live-tweeting this game, and he was like, "Oh, good move, D-Wade!" I'm like... -[ Laughs ] -Then I started watching it like I didn't know how it ended. And he missed these two free throws at the end of the game, and, like, I didn't want to talk to him for the rest of the night. Like... -[ Laughs ] It affected your life that bad? -...how I looked at him. I'm like, "Two free throws? The championship's on the line? Like, really?" -Wow. Does he -- He must know Michael Jordan, right? -Yeah. -Do you guys know him? -Yeah. Our world is very small. And the first time I met Michael Jordan was at a Super Bowl. Like, he was at a Super Bowl party that -- We were at a fashion show or something. And I'm sitting there, having a beer with Desmond Howard, Michigan great. And we look up, and Desmond's like, "Oh, hey! That's, you know, M.J." And I'm like, "Oh, my God. I grew up with his poster on the wall." And he's talking to Edward James Olmos. And I don't know. Like, out of all the things that are on "The Last Dance" doc and all the people you would assume that Michael Jordan would be friends with, that to me was like -- The guy from "Stand and Deliver." Now I'm a fan. -I love that. -Yeah, it was so random, but, like -- It made me a bigger fan. 'Cause I -- What are you talking about? I want to know. -Yeah, I think he's a curious guy. I think his brain is constantly just wondering. And I love that he was like, "Yeah, I think I could be the best baseball player. Sure. Why not? Let me try it." -"Yeah, let's do it." -Congratulations on your first children's book. -Thank you. -"Welcome to the Party" came out yesterday. What a great title. What a great idea. What a great message it sends. It is the number-one book on Amazon for children's stepfamilies books. Number two for children's new baby books. So congrats on that. -Thank you. -I'm sure it will stay up there. Number one's not bad, buddy. What is your inspiration for writing this book? -You know, just to remind so many of us who came about this family journey maybe in a nontraditional way that isn't always celebrated or, you know, has a light that is shined on it. And, like, for us, we were able to bring Kaav into our party through surrogacy, some through adoption, foster care, informal bonds that a lot of families around the world... You know, you raise the kids that need to be raised. Chosen families, where you have, like, older teens and adults who for the first time in their lives are feeling the unconditional love of a family. We just want to celebrate all of those families and all of those folks and just remind them that they are welcome, they are loved, and they are celebrated... -I can relate to that -- that story. Congrats on the book. I think it's such a great, great idea. -Thank you. -Before you go, I wanted to mention that you and Dwyane Wade have been doing amazing things for the LGBTQ community, not only through generous donations, but also by raising awareness. Would you like to talk a little bit about that or...? -Yeah, I mean, you know, we've been giving like so many people have been giving, and we were trying to figure out what maybe are some communities that are falling through the cracks, you know, during all of this giving? And we tend to focus all of -- most of our efforts these days on the most marginalized of us, and that oftentimes are marginalized communities within the LGBTQ-plus community. And so we directed a lot of our giving towards those communities that tend to be forgotten about, especially during a global pandemic. And we're just trying to give in any way that we can to remind people that we see you, we hear you, we love you, and we're going to try to make life a little bit better in any way that we can. -I love that. I'm sorry. It's just -- This has never happened on my show, everyone crying. I love you, pal, and please give my love to Dwyane, as well, and your family and hugs, and I can't wait to see you in person. Thank you so much for doing our show. I really, really appreciate it. -No. Thank you, as always. Thanks, Jimmy.
