Hey guys and girls on Ask Japanese it's Cathy Cat. Don't judge a book by it's cover.

This time we're gonna go to Brilliant Star Decorations, a fashion event here in Tokyo at their

World Lolita Collection. We're gonna go and ask the Fashionistas which secrets

they can share about themselves with us, that you wouldn't guess

from just looking at their cover. Let's go and Ask Japanese.

You might not look like it but in truth you are......?

I am a train-loving university student. - What type? - Love riding trains

Woooow. - I enjoy traveling on trains

When I have summer holidays and such

I go on a local train that stops at every stop

and then go to far off locations like Osaka. - You like taking your time

on the train. - I love it. That's a lot of fun and makes me happy

What's the most fun? The view? The train conductor?

What's best? - I want to speak better English

So I try to listen to the English announces of the train

Things like "Next stop Shinjuku?"

The next station is Shinjuku. Doors on the left side will open

Wooooow. - I like announcements like that.

That pronunciation was great. - Well

The Osaki Rinkai Train has famous announcements.

I like those the most. - You have a favourite one!

Depending on the location the announcements differ.

I like hearing and comparing differences

Are there any interesting announcements?

The Tokyo Toyoko line has an announcement

"Thank you for using the Tokyo Tokyoko Line this train will merge and continue traveling

on the Tokyo Tokyoko like to Motomachi Chuukagai"

This one is difficult, and some think it's a bit incorrect English

I like things like that. I want to listen to all English announcements

and remember them. - Have you ever use this English

in a conversation? - I like trains

and when I see troubled foreigners I see if

I can help them and if they lost an item

where they lost it and such. I help them

where I can. - Nice. - I actually have abs!

They are rock solid. Wanna feel? - Is that ok?

Wow, they are hard! - It's all muscles. - Not bones???

Why are you so muscular???

When I am bored, I tense my muscles. - You must be very bored!

How do you do it? - I just tense them whenever

So just "humph" when you stand around. - Yeah.

I do it. - We just heard great news. Does that mean

I should just tense my muscles interviewing? - And you might get a smaller waist yes.

Whaaat. - Look I am tall but have a small waist. - You do.

I need to remember that. - When tensing my muscles

I relax mentally to. When my boss is angry and shouts I just exercise secretly

like this. When you get a lot shouted at you get ribbed.

When you feel like crying, just make your abs work and slim your tummy

that way.

I work on farms for my job. - On fields?

I wear workers gear, go onto fields, dig holes,

I investigate working methods on ground

and I collect that data and make official announcements about them

and such. - You work on the fields and pc

and dress in this fashion. - That's it. - What veggies did you do recently?

I am in charge of a certain breed of potatoes.

I check out potatoes a lot. - So in reality

... I work as a midnight nurse.

I work late nights or really early mornings.

And recently... I have married. We married.

You might not look like it... but you're already married. - We are!

Who was into this fashion first? - We both were.

And that's how we met and started going out. - I adore this

Jealous. - This is our honeymoon. - This is your

honeymoon? - They might not look like it but they're on their honeymoon!!!

I might not look like it but I LOVE pandas! In order to watch pandas

I hitchhiked in France for 3 hours.

Well first we went on the train and then walked 90 minutes

to get there. There wasn't a taxi or Uber so we had to walk

all the way. - Then we found a hotel

We asked the man there to show us the way there, and he did.

Did you see the panda? - We did! I will show you the pictures!

He was so cute! The French panda was the same age

as our panda here in Japan. And the French panda...

was also the only panda that managed to have offspring

and he is super popular. Other people said they knew our Japanese panda too

They knew about it. We had a panda talk exchange.

Animals are peace! - You might not look like it but....

my room is messy! For Gothic and Lolita fashion lovers that happens.

So many clothes. - Right! This is the reality.

There are so many clothes, and the ones I wear for work

The fashionable clothes I take great care of, the other ones not so much.

My room should be spacious, but it feels small. - Gothic and Lolita clothes

are so heavy they broke your hanger rack before. - They did.

That's a common thing in our fashion styles! - It totally is!

I might not look like it but I actually have a master's degree

in Science Fiction. Yes that's a real degree. I got that in the

UK at a red brick university and I am proud of it, because it's different

from Shakespeare and similar things. I wanted to study something I loved and that's

what I did. I trying to stay true to my motto on my channel which is "do what you love and

love what you do" and try to do the things I like doing. I hope you can also be inspired

by seeing all the wonderful fashionable people in the video today, to maybe

dear to dress a little bit different if that's what you like to do. I hope you enjoyed this video

Now what actually is this event and why is everyone dressed so fancy?

Brilliant Star decorations is the name of an event run but the designers of the Lolita Fashion brand Triple Fortune:

Babi and Kaie.

This was the third year we could participate in this special World Lolita Collection event.

Every year has a theme and this year's theme was “Beautiful Harmony” which is the name of the current era of Japan.

Now why is this even called “World Lolita collection?

The designers travel to different places during the year, and at the beginning of the year

they invite those alternative Fashion Brands they met around the world

to come to Japan and present their collections at a grande fashion show.

This year 11 international brands took part among famous Japanese brands.

What makes this event so special?

The fashion show is presented with song, performance and a fancy meal at a grande location.

Visitors also have the chance to buy some rare and international items there and then.

The guests are always dressed their best

and I appreciate every year how inclusive, tolerant and friendly the atmosphere at this event is.

Fashion clearly has no border.

Triple Fortune are traveling to many countries this year

so you might have a chance to meet them at your country and be sure to say hi if you do.

It was a great pleasure for us to see what Japanese and international designers are releasing this year

and we're looking forward to seeing and featuring more unique fashion styles

from Japan and around the world in the future.
