So we are using the Go Pro on the journey director? Hey guys, it's Cathy Cat and the director, and after we had a livestream with you guys, hopefully you were able to come and join in, we are now going to a farm. A little bit of disinfectant. We are now going to a farm to eat some farm ice cream which is, in Japan, said to be one of the tastiest ice creams if you have straight from the farm – straight from the cow. So yeah, off we go! Director: There is a reason why I wanted to show you guys ice cream there... Because of the corona virus there is a large surplus of milk in Japan. - I heard that too! The reason there is too much milk, a surplus of milk, in Japan is because the kids in junior high and elementary school usually have a meal – a lunch set that is decided in advance, always the same for all the classes, you usually have milk with it. And since they had sudden school closures, there's too much milk. Health is important but also the economy. So I want to help support the farmer's in these times by going there. So we will eat ice cream! - Navi: Keep left. Japanese farm ice cream is said to be amazing. After 300m please turn left. She's still saying to keep left. What is that?? - What? So we stopped our car on our road trip because over here is a ryoujo hanbai, and that's when farmers and similar put down things from the field and you just can buy them right here. And it's based on the trust base, which means there's a little thing and you put coins in there and it's based on the idea that you're a good person and you're not gonna nick it. And you can see like a mat over here to keep the vegetables in the shade. And let's take a look inside. Oh, they also say they have security cameras here so people dont nick stuff. So there is one actually here so some people might be nicking it, but generally it's based on a trust base. So you pick what you want and it'll say a price down here below and then you just put it into the little box here and then the old cute lady that was here a moment ago will have it for herself. Today we have leek... Leek. What is this? What is this? Oh, so that's radish – dried radish. So this is the big radish, Japanese radish, it's huge right. And that's small bits of it that have been dried. It looks like pasta. What is this? - Taro! Pickles. Alright. Vegetables are your health barometer. Eat vegetables and be healthy today and tomorrow too. "If you smile good things will happen!" This lady is adorable. She wrote more over here. What does it say? I am grateful to have met you in this big wide world. Many things in life don't go as planned. The person that you want to make smile, is also thinking of you. Maybe this one... Thank you. So it will say 100 yen for the leek. 100 yen for the leek, and we put it in here, so the cute old lady can have it later when she comes and checks if someone bought her items. There are even bags here. I find that really nice. She even has some bags here in case you need them, but i think we won't even fit this leek in there. Do a leek spin. I'm such a pro at this. This looks like a bamboo forest! - BAMBOO forest! I am Cathy Caaat (singing) Oh I can already see people eating ice cream!!! We are here. - oooh!!! Okay here we are at the enomoto bokojo, somewhere here in Saitama. There are just doves that flew out of the house over there. It smells of cows. This is a familiar smell. Where my mum lives there are more cows than people. Pardon? Yes, apparently the ice cream here is really good. Let's go figure it out. There are so many cars here. I think loads of people are bringing their kids and grandkids here. So in germany we told people not to give the kids to the grandparents but here in japan there are no other option because there are no babysitter system or similar so the kids have to be with the grandparents right now because the parents still have to be working so you'll see a lot of kids with grandparents with kids. Let's go. Italian ice cream and something. Sweet potato, rum and raisin chocolate chip, oh matcha looks good. Can I order? A single scoop of milk ice cream in a cone please. Single scoop ice cream milk. And the next order is two flavors to enjoy in a cup... I can recommend strawberry and matcha. I will go for the matcha then - Is that all? That's all thank you very much. Okay well, I got myself the milk one because it's the most popular one and of course we said we're going to support the milk producers here of Japan and matcha she said so another one she can recommend to us. now I don't have free hand because i always have to hold this microphone so I'm just going to go wild on this one. 333.222...1111 Mmmmh! wow thats rich. It literally tastes like frozen milk. But very rich. im curious about the matcha one now. Anyways, it's like sweet but not too sweet. Director, how do you like the ice cream? “Oishi.” Banksy found at the farm. Banksy! So this is like the milking robot. The cows when they feel like their utters are too heavy, they can come themselves. They know this by now and they can get themselves milked. So they walk into this robot and the robot will take the milk off them. So when they feel like they want to get milked, they can get milked themselves. These are books you flip over when you read them to kids. This one is like the “Rules of the Farm,” “How Humans and Cows Will Interact.” “The Body of the Cow,” “About Milk,” “How to Work With Cows,” and “The Life of a Cow.” I think up here when they have classes they will show the pictures and explain to kids these things. We can look down from here. Oh, look at those. Cows are so cute. Stay safe. Moo. You okay there? Moo. Right, that was it from japanese farm. first time for me being here too. Very interesting. Really love ice cream and hopefully the farmers will not struggle as much with the milk production. As far as I know Japan people are not going to go vegan because of this, so we just have to do something with all the milk now. Hopefully more people will be willing to drink milk here in Japan and find ways to help you guys, you cowsies. Right. So from now were going and try to film more things here outside of Tokyo from the huzzbuzz away from too many people and crowded places so hopefully. I'll see you soon for a video on here to ask japanese. Don't forget to be subscribed and I'll catch you for more things from Japan. Bye!
