This biennial features premieres written and performed by students and alumni in the world's top music, schools, festivals and youth choruses.

We knew that we had created a platform for not only the New York Philharmonic and for new music in New York, but for other organizations to come be a part of the biennial.

We felt it was a special opportunity not only to involve young musicians in the biennial, but also to get their take on what they see as the new threads of music in contemporary music and who were the composers to which they're gravitating.

And I think the energy and enthusiasm that they'll bring to this by will really special.

One such concert takes place on June 8.

Welcome to Astra Contemporary Ensemble Performance of Music.

Several of their recent alumni, Thomas coaches Nina, See Young and Christopher Stark.

Concert will also include music of Aspen faculty members Stephen Hartke, late Steven Stucky, as well as a piece by New York Philharmonic composer in residents S Ipek, a solid in.

All of the pieces in this program are being presented in New York for the first time.

For a young composer like myself to have the opportunity to come here here, peace played by an amazing ensemble and put on by a cradle organization, I don't know what else you could really ask for.

Concert adds a new and exciting venue to the N Y fill Biennial as it takes place in the newly opened with Museum downtown, site of another innovative biennial festival and a perfect place to hear this music never before performed in New York.

I love taking the music outside of different concert venues and putting to new places and see what that does for new audiences.

That's really special for the current state of new music.

The next generation is featured in many other concerts throughout the N y fill biennial, including with the Interlochen Arts Academy, the Brooklyn Youth Chorus and San Francisco Girl's Chorus.

One Knife Uncertain festival this year also marks the 20th anniversary of the Philharmonic's very young composers program, highlighting the youngest generation leading composers.

This is just one of the many ways that the New York Philharmonic collaborates with organizations around the world to foster young talent.
