  • or an alcohol-based hand rub.

  • Most people will recover in a few days

  • to less than two weeks.

  • But some people will develop complications,

  • like pneumonia, which can be life-threatening.

  • If you are very sick or at high risk

  • of getting very sick from flu, adults 65 and older,

  • children under five, pregnant women,

  • people with some chronic health conditions

  • like asthma, diabetes, and heart disease,

  • talk to your healthcare provider.

  • They may prescribe flu antiviral drugs.

  • Antivirals can treat flu and work best when started early,

  • so contact your healthcare provider as soon as possible.
