Bill Tolley is usually to be found in the garden of his care home.
But back in the fifties, his favorite place to be was the dance hole.
Now, thanks to virtual reality, he's going to relive that golden age again.
Theo Thing is what's called virtual reality therapy.
Bill has dementia, and the hope is that this trip down memory lane will be a positive experience for him.

And in many ways, Bill still is.
The Marsten court care home in Oxford has been trialing the technology and found that it has had positive benefits for many residents.
People like Betty.

Does that bring back memories of the day?
Yes.
I couldn't remember what everybody was like.
Many of them are no longer with us.
Of course, Betty is a big fan of the technology.

But some people not have bad memories.

So you've designed this to be comforting.
But is there a danger that residents will find it disconcerting?
Disorientated bit confusing.
It's really important when designing an immersive experience for people with dementia or elderly residents that you are really tailoring it for their needs.
We worked really closely with care teams and people within the any, just to make sure that we're designing something very user centric and that could be comforting rather than confusing.
Certainly for one resident, it seemed rejuvenating experience.
