It's a little novelty lock made by the Eagle Lock Company out of Terry Ville, Connecticut, the company that was founded in 18 33 and at one point was one of the largest lock makers in the world.

Now I have no idea how old this little lock is, but my best guess is between 50 and 100 years.

I say that because the company went out of business about 45 years ago, and this little lock is very similar in shape to a rail road block that Eagle was making about 100 years ago.

I suspect it's on the older side of that range because of the construction of the key.

It's three pieces of brass that are braised together.

More modern production would probably cast a small part like that.

But if anyone does have better information on this lock's history, I'd appreciate it if you could comment below.

But because I love picking where there's a lock this small, I have to wonder whether it's too small to pick.

So for fun Let's give it a try.

First.

We should open this up with the key.

You can see that works very nicely.

Now, let's get a small lock pick.

I'm gonna use this standard hook in 18 thousands.

Reach in there and you can see we popped it open pretty quickly.

So very small, but definitely not too small to pick.
