This cruise ship hit a bad storm 8

that was anything but relaxing. 9

Being on a rollercoaster for 17 hours 10

in your room not even tied down. 11

45 degree angle, it was hell. 12

Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas 13

was headed to the Bahamas from New Jersey 14

when it got pummeled by high winds and rough seas. 15

We are actually at the moment 16

having over 100 knots of wind. 17

The ship eventually turned around 18

but passengers were afraid of the worst case scenario. 19

It was very, very scary. 20

We didn't think we were gonna get back home. 21

Terrifying. 22

The cruise line apologized for the experience 23

and refunded everyone's money for the washed out trip. 24

And how's this for washed out? 25

(water crashing) 26

Water filled the hallway of this Carnival cruise ship, 27

making it look like a scene out of the movie Titanic. 28

At that moment I had no idea what was going on. 29

We didn't know it was a water main. 30

We didn't know if all the other floors were filled. 31

Marla Hoss posted this video to social media 32

asking for prayers. 33

But it turns out the ship wasn't taking on water 34

from the ocean. 35

A burst pipe caused the flooding 36

and crew members banded together to bail it out. 37

And, a few hours later, 38

it looked like nothing ever happened. 39

Thank God nothing terrible happened to us all. 40

(water crashing) 41

This woman survived the unthinkable, 42

falling overboard on a cruise ship 43

in the middle of the night. 44

I felt hopeless. 45

Helpless and hopeless. 46

It was pitch black out there. 47

Sarah Kirby was celebrating her 30th birthday 48

with a Caribbean cruise on Carnival Destiny in 2012. 49

After a night of drinking, 50

she says she was leaning back on the balcony of a stateroom 51

when she fell into the water. 52

She tried to swim after the ship 53

but all she could do was watch it sail away. 54

I kept praying, praying to God, 55

"Please don't let me die out here. 56

"Please don't let something eat me like a shark." 57

Her travel companions begged the ship to go back 58

to look for her and she was found after 90 minutes. 59

Something similar happened to another woman 60

on a cruise to the Bahamas in 2018. 61

There's goes the lifeboat. 62

Passengers caught video of a rescue boat 63

going out to find her and they were relieved 64

when the captain made this announcement. 65

We found the person in the water 66

and she was picked up. 67

And she's now in the hospital so everything is good there. 68

But some cruise ships do leave people behind. 69

(ship horn blares) 70

This couple was 45 minutes late 72

to get back to the cruise ship after an all-day excursion. 73

They may have thought they made it in time, 74

but as they got closer to the ship, 75

they had to watch it pull away from the dock. 76

That sucks. 77

It also happened to this woman 78

who was visibly distraught. 79

That is someone that has missed the boat! 80

It turned out her three children 81

were on the ship without her. 82

CBS travel editor, Peter Greenberg, 83

says cruisers need to respect the return times 84

given by the crew. 85

There are no repercussions to the cruise line. 86

It's in the cruise line's contract you can't be late. 87

The cruise line is going to sale. 88

No! But the rules are the rules. 89

You miss the ship, you're chasing it. 90

But this ship should have stayed 91

in dock a little longer. 92

The Norwegian Sun was still undergoing construction 94

when it set off in April of 2018. 95

Passengers had to hear things like this. 96

At all hours of the day. 98

The work was also limiting the guests 99

from using some parts of the ship. 100

We were always hearing sanding and drilling. 101

Two thirds of the ship at one point was closed down 102

due to sanding, blasting, welding, jackhammering. 103

It was unbelievable what we had to go through. 104

Horrific, absolutely horrific. 105

The guests staged a mutiny 107

demanding answers from the captain. 108

We are doing the best we can. 110

Norwegian apologized and admitted the cruise 119
