  • hello subscribers and others.

  • I don't know if you're aware of this.

  • But two weeks ago, Gallup released a poll about the stress people in the world who's stressed, who's the most dress, who is the least dressed by country.

  • And we came up very near the top of the United States were among the most stressed people.

  • Right now on the planet, Chad is more stress that we are Iran, the people of more stress than we are.

  • But we're like number three or four.

  • That, to me is very disturbing, added to the fact that on the channel on the comments, so many of you are negative negatives.

  • Seeing the world is going to hell seeing things going down.

  • It's better before I had to tell you.

  • But as long as people have been around, certainly in the time that I've studied in my lifetime, the older generation always thinks the younger generation is making things worse.

  • Always, they thought that about the flappers in the 19 twenties, how they were destroying America.

  • They thought that about the industrialists in the 18 eighties, at the same time as people were getting work.

  • They certainly thought that about my generation and Elvis Presley and rock and Roll, which was gonna poisonous.

  • I know that some of you think that it did.

  • My own feeling is we've got to take a more positive attitude towards life.

  • We've got to take a more positive attitude towards each other.

  • So I've asked myself in this video to share a few thoughts about how I do it, how I end up with a positive attitude towards today towards tomorrow towards America, towards democracy and freedom and the chance to be different but still be the unit that I remember feeling when I was a kid and that my mother told me in World War Two Americans felt in spades, we were all in it together.

  • So here's some thoughts.

  • One a wonderful attitude spoken by Jesus.

  • Treat others as you would like to be treated.

  • And what do I mean by that family members, of course, But the people in the workplace I really feel when I go to get my coffee in the morning, that person is serving me coffee.

  • It's hard work to get up early.

  • They have a smile on their face, especially if I smile.

  • How many times have I had it just the last month.

  • Where I see someone's face is dour and a smile and a smile comes back.

  • That's beyond beautiful.

  • So I say, Treat others as you would like to be treated, especially in the workplace, at the toll booth in the coffee shop, in the supermarket, getting your hair done, everything these workers, us, the working people of America were great.

  • I really believe that pretty his spinal on your face.

  • I don't know what I look like right now, but it means a lot to the people who just smile at.

  • You know, they did this test, and babies who were infants who were smiled at lots by the people in their family and outside end up with an easier life just from a smile.

  • So I tried smiling all babies.

  • Sometimes the parents think someone weird.

  • Are you smiling at my little kid?

  • Who are you, old man?

  • But then they get it.

  • I'm just trying to be friendly to the kid and let him know that the world is a good place.

  • So here's what it really comes down to.

  • In these days of partisan divide.

  • Holy mackerel!

  • The country is divided so badly.

  • Where do we come together?

  • How do we feel whole?

  • Well, one of the things I do is I forget about politics.

  • Forget about it.

  • Whatever the other person thinks.

  • I think about potential common ground.

  • Where is that common ground?

  • I'll give you a few places where I find it works.

  • One food.

  • You talk about food with somebody, you're in a restaurant.

  • I don't care what your politics are.

  • You're buying something in the supermarket.

  • You're eating with some friends.

  • It's not about politics is about food.

  • So I find food is great common ground.

  • It works.

  • I'll give you another one that I really think is interesting.

  • But it works sports.

  • You could be on the same team.

  • Even though you come from completely different political points of view, you could support the same city myself.

  • I'm not a big athlete, and I'm not a big sports guy, But I can talk sports to get around other kinds of separations that separate us.

  • And here's another 11 more weather.

  • I come from Maine and in Maine.

  • When you went into the coffee shop in the morning, particularly on a winter day, it didn't matter what anybody is.

  • Politics were.

  • It didn't matter.

  • How about the partisan divide?

  • All the man it is.

  • It's bloody cold out there.

  • The wind is blowing again and there's more snow.

  • That's what we talked about, and the weather brought us together.

  • It made us feel community.

  • I'm proposing.

  • That's a way to look at things.

  • I don't know if you can.

  • I know how much negativity is on my channel with just people feeling bad.

  • What do you say about being horrible?

  • It's so horrible.

  • It's gotten worse every day.

  • They've wrecked it.

  • It's never going to come back.

  • That's just not how I experience my town and my the people around me.

  • I experienced people doing their best, having a hard time economics of bad.

  • Most of us are working day to day.

  • I hate that, worried about the next month's rent, but with it all.

  • Still, you see an accident of the corner over here.

  • Five guys run over into women run over to That's what we're about, and that's what I'm proposing this video.

  • I hope you don't find it in any way offensive because it's not intend to change you.

  • It's just intend to give you another perspective, and I thank you for watching folks.

  • And if you like David Hoffman or you want to hear more from David Hoffman, www dot patri on dot com forward slash all in a day would help a bike.
