  • Hey, Tech leads here and welcome back to coffee time.

  • I never miss coffee time.

  • Have you ever wondered what those people who climb Mount Everest when they make it to the top?

  • What do they think about?

  • What do they see?

  • Do they come to some grand realization?

  • Do they suddenly go?

  • I made it.

  • I succeeded that life and what they come down?

  • Do you think there's newspapers waiting for them to publish their stories?

  • No, I think what happens is they get to the top and for a few minutes they feel great until despair said those in And they realized what?

  • Now they've reached a goal.

  • Some ultimate go in their life.

  • And they were expecting officers of great amazing things that happen When they finally reached this combination the whole time they were working on the how how do I get to the top?

  • How do I check the weather?

  • How do I make the transportation logistics work?

  • How do I take time off?

  • How do I raise enough money?

  • How do I get my gear set up?

  • All of this is about the help, but it's never really been about the wife, and I think that a lot of people who were trying to get to the top of Mount Everest there were probably escaping from something running away from life, running away from the problems in their own life, hoping that when they got to the top, everything else would be soft magically and you, as we all know, when they get to the top, no one cares.

  • When they get to the bottom and tell people about the story, nobody cares.

  • You know, I think that's when they realize there's no escaping from your problems.

  • They have to face the problems in their life and just take care of things.

  • And I think that's also when they realized it's not about the destination.

  • It's about the journey is about the process going through life.

  • If people were hoping that when they reached some level of success, that suddenly their life would become amazing, you know, that's just not how it's gonna turn out.

  • Have you ever played those video games where you finally reached the highest level in the game or you finally beat the game and you unlock new game plus and then you find out you've lost all motivation to continue playing.

  • You finally reached the goal.

  • The thing you've been striving for so much and as soon as you reach, like, say, the highest level, you just understood the game immediately after that because you're done and you just feel emptiness and despair like there was no point in the end.

  • And that's when you realise, Why did you work so hard and struggle throughout the whole thing on Lee to get to the end, hoping that it was going to fulfill you in some way and it left you feeling just empty inside?

  • I think there's one reason why a lot of people who maybe climb out ever it's a good thing to put on your resume because it shows that maybe you've come to this realization and businesses may appreciate that.

  • You understand.

  • It is about the journey.

  • It is about the process and it is about making sure that your life is not just good, but it is great.

  • A lot of people go through life and you're just struggling all the way through, hoping that when they hit retirement they're going to finally be able to enjoy life.

  • But the funny thing is, I don't think that's really quite how it pans out.

  • You know, by the time you get to retirement, of course you're going to be owed.

  • Your body is going to be fragile.

  • You won't be able to do anything.

  • You may have time and money, but you won't have that youth, that energy to just do anything.

  • You won't be bouncing around.

  • So if you were hoping that that was going to happen, just know that that's not going to work out for you.

  • But the funny thing is, when I go into the office, I'm sure happens to you, too.

  • You will see people who are making twice as much money as you, maybe 10 times as much money or 100 times or 1000 times more money than you are.

  • And even these people who have reached bewildering levels of success that you can only dream about.

  • You'll find that they seem to be living very similar lives to you and me.

  • They go into the office Monday to Friday.

  • They put in the same hours.

  • Sometimes they put in even more hours than you and I.

  • They're eating the same food.

  • They're using the same bathrooms and they live in the same neighborhood as you and I may be.

  • Their weekends and vacations are a little bit more spectacular, and they own a few better things than we do.

  • But really about that journey.

  • I think you may find that when you finally reach some level of success and you just quit everything and you go sit on the beach, you're going to find that you get bored very quickly to make this realization.

  • You can try doing that yourself.

  • Just take a three week vacation to Hawaii.

  • So I did one time and bye week, too.

  • I was completely bored out of my mind.

  • I just began spending my days reading books because I was looking for more mental stimulation than just sitting on the beach, getting some burned all the time.

  • You know, some people may think they're gonna go buy some really awesome car, but you'll find that I think a lot of the cars are not very interesting because they take up so much time and your time is very valuable.

  • You don't own the car, the car owns you and you become a slave to the car.

  • You have to start washing it taking care of it, making sure that you can protect its resale value.

  • Just keeping it well conditioned, well maintained.

  • And all of that is going to cost a lot of time.

  • You know, if you ask me what car I want to buy, I'm personally interested in the most reliable car that I can get that needs as little maintenance as possible.

  • Maybe something like the Prius.

  • Now, I haven't actually bought that thing.

  • A few years back, I had the chance of drive a Lamborghini and an Aston Martin, and the Lamborghini completely smoked the Aston Martin.

  • And I just felt that the Aston Martin was complete garbage compared to the Lamborghini.

  • And as soon as I realized well hey, the only car I would actually maybe want is a Lamborghini.

  • But that's like pretty up.

  • There is, like, 500 K for something like that.

  • Just what that's not even realistic.

  • I don't even really want to take care of something like that.

  • So that's the funny thing is when I think about cars, I just think about well, yeah, are you gotta do is just step on the pedal and see who can step on the pedal the hardest.

  • That's all it is.

  • And that's why cars are so appealing through the mass public.

  • It's something that requires no skill that anybody can do so.

  • It's really not about the cost of money is about that cost in time.

  • That's going to end up hitting you pretty hard.

  • And the funny thing I mentioned about cars, by the way, is there something that I want to get to a certain level, and you start expanding your horizons.

  • You'll find that's not so interesting in a hobby, right?

  • Like Motorcyclist, for example, will make fun of car people as cagers because they're driving around with the cage around themselves.

  • Motorcycles can smoke any car in terms of acceleration speed.

  • If you're looking for the thrill of speed, you want to get motorcycle.

  • You don't want a car, you know.

  • Same with selling, right.

  • Once you got into a sailboat, no car will be able to match the exhilaration of selling on the open ocean with music and friends around you houses to, for instance, you may be dreaming about buying the house, but, you know, for me, I'm in the situation where yeah, I can go out and buy a house if I want to, but it's just gonna take up so much time.

  • I'm not relishing the idea of giving up, say, a day, a week, just to take care of housework, maintaining the house, repairing things, doing yard work, gardening, painting the walls.

  • You know, I think that's fun, and certain people really enjoy doing things like that.

  • That's not something that I'm prepared to take on at this point in my life.

  • I realized that Holmes on an investment, but it's also a second job, and you work for that additional income that you may be getting.

  • So I just don't want second job right now.

  • And I think that anybody who wants a second job I can get one if you wanted to.

  • You know it's not that valuable of a thing.

  • All you have to do is just go start driving uber cars with uber.

  • Anyone can get a second job that pays decent.

  • So if you're looking for a little bit additional money, that's one way to do it.

  • What you realize is time can be traded for money.

  • They're both the same, you know.

  • I remember when I was living in New York and the city can be very expensive, right, like there are people who are making tons of money over their restaurants, can cause Aton events can cause the town.

  • And I remember my sister would say she doesn't want to go to New York until she's earned it until she's earned that financial level of success such that she can actually go live in this city properly.

  • And you know what happened?

  • She never came to the city.

  • She never went to live there because you never reached that level of financial success.

  • I think the truth of the matter is she never really needed to reach that level of success before she started enjoying her life.

  • I've seen my father to.

  • My dad would say.

  • One day he's going to go to South America on a multi month backpacking trip.

  • It never happened, and by now he's getting old and his body's getting fragile.

  • You don't know if it's ever going to really happen anymore.

  • A lot of people would just struggled throughout their whole lives, thinking that this isn't there really life yet.

  • Things haven't started yet, you know, they keep thinking as soon as they get to this level of financial success.

  • As soon as they get promoted.

  • As soon as they get that job, then that's when their actual life's going to start.

  • You know, there's always going to be some go that you're trying to reach, and it's never quite going to be enough.

  • As soon as you get there, you'll find you're just like when people get to the top of my Everest, they find okay, There was nothing really there.

  • That wasn't quite enough young people who are hoping to find, like, say, a treasure box at the top of Mount Everest.

  • It's empty at the top, and so that's when you realize you want to make the whole journey good.

  • Your life has already begun.

  • This is your life.

  • This is your twenties.

  • This is your thirties.

  • This is your teenage years, your forties or fifties and life would just move on like that, You know, for me, my twenties have already come and gone, and it was over in the blink of an eye.

  • I had always thought that I would do more.

  • There was so much more I wanted to do, and to be able to say that it did in my twenties.

  • You know, I like to think of myself as the author of my own life, and I'm writing this story, and I want to be able to go back and recount that story and be proud of the steps that I had taken throughout it.

  • So I would encourage you to focus not just on the go, but also on the journey.

  • Remember to protect your time because it is one of your most valuable assets.

  • And to make it not just a good life but a great life.

  • Let me know what you think of the comments.

  • If you like the video, give it the like and subscribe.

  • And I'll see you next time.

  • Bye.

Hey, Tech leads here and welcome back to coffee time.
