  • Hey, Tech Lee tear and welcome back to another episode.

  • It is coffee time with attack lead.

  • I'm drinking coffee brews Starbucks Code blue today And the reason is because I'm so successful Oh, it's just not fair, is it?

  • Why am I so successful?

  • And I know what you're thinking.

  • I don't look successful, right?

  • You and me, we seem pretty relatable.

  • We seem like the same type of people.

  • Like you could probably be my friend like my peer, and that's just not quite there.

  • I'm at a whole different level.

  • I'm like, pretty up there and you're like, down there and it just seems like we're the same people.

  • We're not right.

  • What makes me so different than anybody else that you meet, right?

  • Where's my suit?

  • Where's my Rolex watch?

  • Where's my Lamborghini?

  • Right.

  • Where's any of this stuff?

  • None of it seems to show that I'm successful.

  • And yet I'm telling you I am.

  • And the message I have for you today is to redefine your idea of success.

  • Now I don't mean that you can just redefine success to me.

  • Whatever you want, right?

  • Like you can define success to me and playing video games, and you can define yourself to be successful.

  • That's not what I'm talking about.

  • This video, by the way, is sponsored by Squarespace you want.

  • Check him out Score spaces.

  • This highly professional, wet platform for helping you build your next online Web business.

  • Their hope.

  • You get set up with a beautiful website with award winning designed templates.

  • Professional engineering, online marketing tools, analytics, email campaigns, online storefronts, everything you need to go set up.

  • Check him out.

  • Squarespace dot com slash tech Lead Get tempers Enough.

  • What I'm trying to tell you is that our definition of success our ideas are shaped largely by the media and by the old age notions of success.

  • You know, in the old times people did where Rolex watches.

  • But nowadays, because of technology because of the advancements in our society, we don't need the watchers anymore.

  • You know, people just carry a phone, and if you did want to watch, you probably wouldn't go for one of those outdated Rolex watches.

  • You might get like an apple watch or something like that, like a digital watch.

  • And, you know, where's the Lamborghini?

  • Well, these days, being equal friendly is considered pretty trendy right These days.

  • A lot of people like to drive Priuses, test less right electric cars and even beyond that lot of people.

  • Maybe they just for for traveling instead, right?

  • They don't want to be tied down with a car, right?

  • I don't want the maintenance and headaches of trying to maintain a vehicle because there's just no pride in anymore.

  • No one cares if you're able to maintain their car.

  • There's just many other things that people value far more than cars these days, right?

  • Like a laptop.

  • People think laptops are far colder than cars.

  • That's one of your most press possessions.

  • If you could only have one thing laptop Rikard, you'd probably want your laptop And cars have been around for just a pretty long time by now right there, Just pretty.

  • Oh, there's just not that coin and were a lot of people.

  • I think younger generations they view cars is just utilitarian devices.

  • A lot of people just want you zip cars or something.

  • Get around.

  • Maybe boats are cooler, maybe motorcycles, air cooler.

  • But honestly, I think that none that this school, what people really are interested in these days is maybe just living a mobile lifestyle, being able to travel around the heavy inflexibility, freedom, going out to nice restaurants, posting pictures of themselves, having a good time.

  • And that's really what it's all about.

  • It's not really about what you own so much anymore suits to write.

  • You know, in the old times in the banking world, maybe suits were commonplace and a soup made you seem successful.

  • But these days, a lot of people they don't need suit, right.

  • You don't need suits necessarily be successful.

  • Most people aren't doing that.

  • And the other thing good looks.

  • Now I look pretty good.

  • In fact, I looked pretty amazing.

  • But in the old times, in order to become a Hollywood movie star, you have to have good looks.

  • And I think that a lot of agencies, Hollywood movies, the deals, they would just be looking for the most beautiful looking people.

  • Well, these days it's not so much about beauty anymore, right?

  • It's more about how unique your face looks, and even beyond that, you don't necessarily need a Hollywood movie productions to deal to get you millions of views, right?

  • You can just run the YouTube channel.

  • You're going to get lots of people to view you that way.

  • People are self publishing these days, so you don't need a KN agency to vouch your appearances.

  • You can look like anything.

  • You could look like a worm, a snow, and you could still publish your own videos.

  • And you can still make it big these days.

  • So it's not necessarily that in order to be successful to be a movie star or something, you need to have your appearances vouched for by some Hollywood movie executive for something like that.

  • Whoever wants to try it, you're gonna go try and who knows who's going to succeed, right?

  • You know, golf is another example.

  • Is one of those out there that sports that law that people used to do, and it made people seem successful These days.

  • Everyone's busy all the time.

  • Who has time to go play some golf?

  • And there's far more interesting, better sports around these days with them?

  • Trying to tell you is this.

  • I think that love that people are out there chasing the wrong notions of success, wrong notions of wealth and they're getting into things that they really have no business getting into, and it's just going to lead them astray.

  • They are running in the wrong direction, right?

  • You see some people, they're trying to get suits, and they think that the more fancy cars they buy, if they go out and buy some really fancy watch that is going to make them appear successful and sure, yeah, maybe it will make them appear successful in some people's eyes.

  • But in reality, the people who truly have become successful like myself.

  • You know, I look at that and I think that that all looks pretty shallow, pretty fake.

  • And it's not true success.

  • And I think that one thing that everybody needs to ask themselves is, by your own standards, what the success looked like given the modern capabilities, right?

  • Do you want to be the type of person who is just living in your own huge mansion and you just live there the whole time, or do you want to be?

  • The person is just off traveling around, seeing the world, staying in hotels here and there, right that could actually be a far better, more interesting lifestyle.

  • In the old days, people maybe took just a few trips around the world, and then they would make those trips incredibly lecturers, maybe a fly first class these days.

  • Maybe it's better to have a bunch of times so that you can take a bunch of trips, just fly economy class and just get a huge quantity number of trips and just go all around and maybe invest that money in something else.

  • Something more interesting, right?

  • Like, say, a nice hotel room, maybe.

  • Nice food, nice experiences.

  • Same with a car.

  • If you're out chasing after cars, you may want to ask yourself, Do you actually even want a car?

  • Is that really going to be your definition of success?

  • Or if you were truly successful and if you were out Livia Mobile lifestyle, maybe you would be out living in Switzerland or something.

  • Maybe you don't even need the car over.

  • Their cars are actually pretty dangerous.

  • Whenever I go live in another country like, say, Japan, I'm just taking trains all the time, then come back to the U.

  • S.

  • And I have to drive for myself around other people who have no clue how to drive.

  • I just feel like I'm putting my life at risk.

  • There was a time when that was gonna go buy a do cutie motorcycle and I thought that this is going to be cool.

  • It's gonna be luxurious.

  • Gonna look so cool and is going to be great until I realize Oh, wait, I actually want to do some traveling And then I just cancel that whole pre order of the duke Adi because I realized that I didn't want to go around driving some luxurious high end motorcycle.

  • I wanted to go take a trip.

  • I wanted to go write a sailboat and do selling instead, right in the Caribbean.

  • You want the more interesting things to think about is work is work a part of success, right?

  • And if you were to look at some of the most successful people out there, you see like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, they all continue to work even after they became successful, while even after they could have stopped working but still was about for them, perhaps legacy, perhaps, about seeing the best they could be and just remaining relevant.

  • You know, perhaps in the old times, if you were successful like a Rockefeller or something, then that was enough and you didn't have to continue being protective.

  • You didn't have to do anything because everybody already knew you.

  • And it was good enough to be one of the few people that rich and that alone made you famous.

  • That alone gave you social status.

  • But the funny thing is, these days if you're like a tech entrepreneur, you build up a business and then you sell it and you get some money, then that's it.

  • And after that, nobody really cares about who you are, what you're doing.

  • I've seen other tech entrepreneurs.

  • They became big, became successful, so their companies and then nobody cared about them anymore.

  • A few years later, people just don't care anymore.

  • You know their stories where people say that they're happiest is really when they're building their company when they're building something, working towards some dreams, there's a bunch of hope endeared.

  • People have a purpose, a mission.

  • They're working towards something greater, a better life even and you know, that could be part of the image of success.

  • That's maybe what you want.

  • The thing is that you could only set on the beach for so long before you get bored before the sun starts burning your skin and then you don't want to put on any more sunscreen because sunscreen is just going to cause your skin cancer.

  • You know, it's just like at that point, what are you going to do?

  • So to wrap this up, I think that a lot of us are looking at images of success were being brainwashed in the way by media into thinking that this is was successes.

  • Or that's what success is right, assuming in the pool in the luxury hotel where the Maybe that success or driving a Lamborghini.

  • Maybe that's what success is really all about.

  • And, you know, I think that for me, none of these things are really, truly success.

  • When you get to the point where you can actually go and buy some of this stuff where you can go out and buy a country club membership in the golf club.

  • You know you don't really want that when you could get to the point where you can actually go buy a got a sailboat.

  • You don't want that either, because it's just going to be so much maintenance you're not gonna wanna be selling in the same harbor the same location.

  • The whole time is really just easier.

  • Nicer to just go rent sailboats and things like that.

  • So I think that people are just chasing the wrong things.

  • They're chasing some vision, some idea, a notion that doesn't really exist, right?

  • It may exist in your dreams in the few quick moments here and there, but in practicality, it doesn't really quite work.

  • The reality is far more uglier, perhaps, than just the notion of what it is in your head.

  • And then what happens is that you're chasing after these things running in the wrong direction.

  • Working towards that, maybe you are buying cars, right?

  • Maybe first, by all the than the Jaguar and they get a Porsche.

  • And finally we get to the point where you could buy a Lamborghini.

  • You realize you don't even like cars.

  • You don't even want a car.

  • So I would recommend that you kind of think to yourself about what success really looks like.

  • I don't think that success and reality looks like what you imagine it to be.

  • All the glitz and glamour and the suits and black ties and the hats and the cigars, you know, that just doesn't quite exist anymore.

  • If you want to know what success looks like, you're looking at it right now.

  • That's me.

  • I am success now.

  • In order to obtain success these days, you're going to need an online Web presence, and that is where our sponsor, squarespace dot com slash stoeckley check him out.
