  • So my tip is in your answer to this prison officer interview.

  • Question.

  • Think about the role and how it is a match for your own qualities on experience.

  • Here is my suggested answer.

  • I want to become a prison officer for three reasons.

  • The first reason is I want a challenging role where no two days of the same.

  • I am the type of person who gets the most job satisfaction from a job where I am constantly challenged, where I have to think on my feet and also where I get to communicate with people on a daily basis.

  • Now the second reason is I want a job that is a match for my own skills and qualities.

  • I am confident I can communicate well, and I'm also resourceful.

  • I understand these three qualities form part of what is required to be a competent prison officer.

  • Finally, I want a job where I have to work as part of a team with other like minded professionals.

  • I feel I would enjoy working this part of a team where you have to follow strict rules and procedures.

  • Those are the three main reasons why I want to become a prison officer.

  • I like that response because it is confident is concise and most importantly, you're giving them three specific reasons why you want to be a prison officer.

  • Let's take a look at another prison officer.

  • A RC interview question would you expect to be doing on a daily basis?

  • Is a prison officer.

  • So my tip for answering this question is, think carefully about the varied aspects of the prison officer role and try to include as many of them as possible.

  • In your answer, here is my suggested answer to these questions.

  • I will have a large number of responsibilities as a prison officer, including getting a brief from my governor on also making Dr Follow strict rules and procedures at all times.

  • I will also be required to check prison cells, confiscate items from prisoners, check regularly prison numbers, let prisoners out for exercise on also advised prisoners what they need to do if they have a problem or a dispute.

  • We'll also need to use effective communication and interpersonal skills to de escalate situations, but also to help rehabilitate prisoners.

  • Life.

  • I will work with people from all different types of backgrounds and situations.

  • No two days will ever be the same, and I will need to be prepared to work on sociable ours and also at weekends.

  • That's a really good answer.

  • It shows that you've researched the role of a prison officer and you know what you will be doing on a daily basis.

  • Now I still have a number of questions to run through, so please do stick around, but when you're ready.

  • Next question.

  • What do your strips now this prison officer interview question assesses whether or not you have the necessary strips to perform the role competently onto the necessary standards.

  • So whilst you will be given thorough training, you must demonstrate you have the potential to become a prison officer.

  • Here's my answer.

  • My strengths are my ability to follow rules and procedures, my ability to learn things quickly, my confidence levels and resilience, and also my attention to detail skills.

  • I also feel I am a good communicator.

  • I can remain calm and composed whilst under pressure, and I'm also a supportive team worker.

  • Those in my opinions are some of the best qualities to give all strengths for being a prison officer.

  • Next question.

  • Tell me a time when you have to make an effective decision under pressure, so prison officers have to do this on a daily basis.

  • They have to remain calm.

  • They have to be resilient and confident and make a decision that is the breath best interests of the prison in the prison service.

  • So one of the most important qualities of a prison officer is, as I say, being able to make decisions quickly whilst under pressure.

  • So try and get a specific situation you've bean in where you remain calm under pressure and made the right decision based on the circumstances.

  • Here we go whilst at work.

  • In a previous role, a work colleague started making inappropriate comments to another workaholic.

  • I felt it was my responsibility to step in and stop the comments immediately to both prevent any further harm to my work colleague and also educate the person making the unwanted comments.

  • I immediately told my work colleague in a car manner that his comments were not only unacceptable but also against our employers code of conduct.

  • I also explained how those type of comments were potentially damaging to other people and that they were very much unwelcome.

  • The person making the comments immediately apologized and promised not to make any further similar kinds.

  • It was clear my decision to calmly intervene was the correct one to protect my work colleague from further harm.

  • Now you'll notice in the answer.

  • I have used situation.

  • Task action on results that is called the Star technique for answering situational on behavioral type.

  • Interview questions is a brilliant method for helping you structure your answers.

  • The star technique.

  • There's no one.

  • How would you deal with the prisoner who was demonstrating threatening behaviour?

  • This is a tough prison officer interview Question.

  • Now the most important thing to consider when answering this prison officer interview question is to say you will follow your training and the rules and procedures.

  • Here is my answer.

  • First and foremost, I would always make sure I followed my training on operational procedures that would be implemented by the prison service.

  • Whilst dealing with this type of scenario, I would always remain calm, consider my exit, be confident and resilient, and use a style of communication that was aimed at de escalating the situation.

  • If at any time I felt the situation was gathering pace or increasing in intensity, I would request backup from my work colleagues and raise the alarm if needed.

  • That's a great considered answer that shows that you are being safe and you are also abiding by the rules and procedures implemented by the prison service.
