I just simply boil and eat. Today, I'm going show how I cook and how I usually eat them. And with cooked chestnuts, I'm going to make delicious Korean traditional cookies. So cute! It's called: 'Yul-lan'. So, two recipes in one video, let's start! Scrub this like this. Couple of times, rinse this and pour out the water. Pour some water until your chestnuts are submerged like this. Cover, let's boil this over medium high heat. So, fifteen minutes over medium high heat, I cooked this. Lower the heat, low heat. Ten more minutes, we have to cook. And then, strain. Rinse in cold water. So, this is one pound (453.592 g) I'm going to divide into two portions. One is for the cookies I'll make soon, the other half is going to be how I usually eat for snack. Okay, this is half pound (226.796 grams) This is half pound half pound. Like this. Just scoop this with spoon. Mmm. I love it. Second recipe, it's the Korean cookie called 'yul-lan', very beautiful. To make this, we need special tool. (chuckles) This is mortar and pestle. And then I'm going to pound this, mash this. Let's first all cut it in half like this. Scoop out all insides. Today I'm very lucky, all my chestnuts are very healthy, nice, but when you see the brownish, a little rotten stuff then always take that part out. Okay. And then, pound this. This mortar is made of stone, it came from Korea, I love this. I'll make so many recipes with this. Using this, your wooden spoon or rice scoop. Through this hole from the coarse wire strainer, push like this. And then you see, the powder-looking stuff coming through this. This is not easy job, but you know, when you work a little bit, make an effort, and then you'll get a really nice result. So you'll be so happy when you see the really beautiful cookies soon. The leftover is only skin part. Great, and, just we gotta use all. Okay. Two tablespoons (29.5735 ml) honey. Half teaspoon (2.46446 ml) cinnamon and pinch of salt. And mix. Really like syrup-looking. Done. Pour this here. Look at this. And mix. So we make it look like a dough, but it's already cooked and delicious, this cookie, so you don't have to bake or anything. Well mixed. Gloves, and make a soft lump. We have to make the really nice shape. Just a little bit. Take some little bit like a small chestnut size. Shape this, it look like chestnut. It's too much trouble for you? Then, put some plastic wrap and make it tightly. We made a dozen yul-lan! And not finished yet, we are going to decorate this, it'll look really pretty. These are pine nuts, I'm going to chop this into really small pieces. We need honey. Usually, just pine nuts and honey we use this, traditional way. But I found out this green tea powder, really pretty color. And this is black sesame seeds. Just a little bit. First, honey. And, black sesame seeds. Today we made just boiled, steamed chestnuts, and Korean traditional cookies, 'yul-lan'. Usually serve this with tea, really hot green tea. I don't really feel like really hot tea today, I'm having some mineral water. Yul-lan! Mmmm! Delicious! Sweet, soft, some cinnamon flavor, pine nuts texture, really awesome! And green tea, I'll taste the green tea. Mm! Green tea plus this roasted black sesame seeds, really delicious! We don't bake! Just make by hand. Enjoy my recipe! See you next time! Byee~!
