and get off to camp where we can pick up Becca and Anna

because there is a huge birthday celebration coming up.

Ruth is turning 40, we're planning lots of fun stuff.

But the biggest thing she doesn't know about, it's a surprise!

Oh, you guys did a good job!

Now Mommy takes over.

Nate: We are back in Ome to pick up Becca and Anna from their camp.

Nate: The last moments at camp before we head back.

By some small miracle, just Dad, Mom and I are going to Costco

Debbie's also going to be there so we're going to be able to plan the food for the surprise party

So we're coordinating: we have a coffee shop cart,

We have our own cart. And Debbie's here getting her stuff.

And we're preparing for Ruth's surprise party tomorrow, ah!

Grandpa: Looks good, good, good. Nate: Yea, that's what we love about Costco, right?

Grandpa: No kidding. I don't know if you can get a Caesar Salad (in America).

Nate: Whoa, Becca!

That looks awesome!

[Nate exclaims] There's Anna dragon!

Oh my goodness!

Oh, hugging dragons, careful!

Nate: Today is the big day!

Ruth, happy birthday!

Grandma: And she made Egg Casserole for us and it's her birthday!

In this box is Ruth's birthday present.

Ruth: I have no clue what it is.

Nate: She has no clue what it is.

It's heavy...

Ruth: Did you buy me weights?

Nate: Yea, wouldn't that be nice?

[joking] here's some exercise weights for your 40th (birthday).

(Ruth laughing) It's an expresso machine!

Yea!

Instant coffee.

Ruth: Oh, this is great!

Anna: You should make it now!

Nate: Look at that. Ruth: This tells you how intense (it is).

We're trying Ruth's birthday present!

Whoa!

(Nate whispering) So we're going to go celebrate Ruth's birthday, she knows that.

But what she doesn't know is how many people are going to be there.

Ben: Hi! Becca: Hi!

Ben: Secret password: "Okaeri"

Nate: Waiting with bated breath!

Does she know already? I wonder...

Everyone: Surprise!!

Yea!!!

(Everyone singing "Happy Birthday")

Ruth: Ah! Totally surprised!

Nate: OK, so let's pray for Ruth. Ruth, let's put you in the middle here.

I just bless you, Ruth. I'm so glad I'm married to you.

I could go on and on, but, (God) bless this food!

and this time that we have together.

Ben: How do you feel?

Nate: Pretty good. I was surprised we pulled it off, actually.

Ruth: I'm surprised no one gave it away!

Ben: She was totally surprised!

We got here. She shed some tears.

It was a precious moment.

Nate: What do we have here, Becca? What did you get?

Becca: Sushi! Nate: Whoa, sushi rolls and sushi!

Nate: I know this isn't technically birthday cake, but...

Ruth: Oh! It's better than birthday cake!
