  • however, one.

  • Welcome to another video.

  • Now We took a look back at the G t x 7 50 t I and how it handles itself in 2000 and 18 quite recently.

  • So I think it's only fair we look back at another iconic piece of hardware that was very popular among tech enthusiasts myself included on DDE, something that will always hold a special place in my heart.

  • I am, of course, talking about Intel's Pentium anniversary edition G 30 to 58 released four years ago.

  • In the second quarter of 2014 this particular chip was celebrated for its excellent price to performance on over clocking potential.

  • Some sites even compared its performance to top tier IE seven's of the time in terms of how it handled specific games.

  • These days, though, it's a different story.

  • See a lot of titles utilize a lot more cause and threads.

  • Now, with just to cause and two threads, then the G 30 to 58 was destined to eventually be doomed quicker than some, including myself, would have liked.

  • But his 2018 the year that it finally meets its maker Well, some would argue that happened long ago.

  • Yet finding one of these can still be quite difficult, with some being listed for silly money.

  • Sure, it doesn't sound that capable anymore, but it still seems very popular among people who might like to collect certain hardware for today's video.

  • I've dug out my old M S I H 81 in p 33 Bold eight Gigs of Ram and, of course, bought another G 30 to 58.

  • This one I found for £32 quite close to me.

  • I've also overcooked this one, too, and easily achievable four gigahertz amateur figures for some of these.

  • They're sensible round number that should be doable by most on even the stock cooler.

  • So brace yourselves because we're jumping right in at the deep end into what is probably the last ever look at this old thing.

  • So the first thing I had to do was set this up like a brand new PC, and I thought that's the perfect opportunity to test how this thing functions on a day to day basis.

  • Does it still, Seamus?

  • Snappy and as quick as I remember in everyday usage, like Internet browsing, everything like that and to be honest, it certainly does.

  • I overcooked it straightaway.

  • I didn't even give it a chance to run it 3.2 gigahertz.

  • I just fired on the system.

  • Check that it actually worked.

  • Shut the system down over.

  • Clocked in memory started everything, and everything just ran pretty much perfectly.

  • It's quite a snappy system over with the eight Gigs of Ram.

  • I showed you a single stick off Ram in that bit of footage back then, but I did swap it out for Jewel Channel memory.

  • Two sticks of four gigabytes 1600 megahertz round was used today on Dhe for the general usage side of things.

  • Yet the G 30 to 58 certainly still has it.

  • If you want to put together and everyday basic system, it's fine for that.

  • But of course, we're not here to talk about the basic functionalities of a PC because we want to see how this thing handles games.

  • And to do that well, we better just jump right in.

  • So I started with Assassin's Creed Odyssey here Now Assassin's Creed.

  • Odyssey actually had an issue when it first came out in that it wouldn't run on non a VX supported processes.

  • Since then, it's seen an update on will Now run on, said CP use the G 30 to 58 included.

  • In fact, I ever showed you a screen shot here off the game, firing up on the G 30 to 58 in the system just so that you can see that it does indeed work.

  • Fine.

  • Now, I also opened up the graphical settings menu here.

  • I will be going back and updating that.

  • Drivers.

  • I'm using this with my duty x 10 70 so that we can get the absolute best performance out of it.

  • As you can see here, these are the settings that I used.

  • Now you may notice the lack of an overlay here.

  • The M s I afterburner overlay is missing.

  • Fear not.

  • It's not missing throughout this entire video just for this footage.

  • Because whenever I try to use M s I with this game and record it assessing screen just crashed to the desktop.

  • It was a pretty nightmarish situation.

  • I tried about 10 20 times every time I wanted to record with M s.

  • I afterburn enabled.

  • I just could not do it.

  • So I had to get the benchmark figures from frappes, first of all, and then go back and record some footage afterwards.

  • Here we averaged 32 frames per second.

  • I tested a little bit of gameplay as well, and that's ever so slightly more demanding than this benchmark run on.

  • Now there will be a few status here, and there's where, when I say a few, I mean well, quite a lot.

  • Assassin's Creed Odyssey is very CPU intensive indeed, and to cause just don't cut it.

  • Unfortunately, it's clear to see throughout that the Jew 30 to 58 is certainly a bottleneck.

  • When in use with a card like the 10 17 you can't help but wonder What sort of performance gains would I get if I was using something a little more powerful?

  • Because it's obvious that this thing is definitely holding us back.

  • That being said, I don't like to bad mouth one of my favorite chips of all time, and we're certainly getting playable frame rate in terms of averages.

  • But because of that bottle neck caused by the CPU, there is a lot of stutter, and that seems to be the case in a lot of these modern games.

  • When I tested this last, I tested slightly older titles or ones that weren't as CPU Reliance, and it seems that it did okay.

  • But as we move on in the gaming world, as technology progresses and we start to use more cause and more threads to court to thread it, CPI use will definitely start to struggle more and more.

  • And that's certainly the case with this little fella.

  • I'm not writing it off completely, though, because there are still some things it will handle just fine, even if it is maxing out a lot of the time.

  • Battlefield one is not one of those titles, although I could have sworn over on this before with this process, her just fine.

  • I even went back into the BIOS and over clocked it to a further 4.3 gigahertz Andi.

  • Unfortunately, I couldn't get this to run smoothly.

  • I don't know what was going on here because, as I say, I think I've had it running.

  • Okay, But as you can see in the top left corner, the processor is maxed out 100% and it didn't really move off of that mark.

  • So there certainly is a pretty intensive bottleneck in this situation as well.

  • When it came to playing the crew to well, the CPU handled this one just fine.

  • You have to excuse the horrible gameplay footage, though, because I was trying to use a keyboard and mouse with this game.

  • I'll admit I usually use a controller because the controls aren't really the easiest in the world.

  • But if you put that aside, if you ignore that terrible game play, then in terms of pure performance, the do 30 to 58 handled game rather well 10 80 p medium settings here.

  • And we maintained a pretty smooth frame rate throughout.

  • There will be a few instances of stutter, particularly when you switch vehicles.

  • But for the most part on considering the overall size of the game, you'll have a pretty decent experience overall.

  • Now, these last two games performed, okay, but you're going to see a lot of stutter on the recording.

  • It's going to make the games look a lot worse than they actually appeared in real life.

  • Why is this?

  • Well, I wanted to try something a bit different here.

  • Now, a big part of my everyday sort of PC usage is recording footage, and a lot of you always ask me what are the best programs to use?

  • Well, a lot off in video and M D cards have software called Shadow Play or Relive that let You capture gameplay internally.

  • And I used to do this a lot when I had my Pentium G 30 to 58 7 50 tr combination.

  • So I thought I'd give it a go here and see how well the CPU handles that.

  • As you can see, despite the 10 seventies capability off recording game play without any frame loss, the process of certainly meant that the outcome was a rather Laghi one.

  • Now this won't occur in every single game, but I just wanted to see how well it could handle it.

  • And unfortunately, if you are planning on any content creation stuff like that, then it will be a bit hit and miss.

  • Some games will be recorded absolutely fine.

  • There will be no slow down when you play the videos back.

  • But here in the games like rainbow six seeds, for example, what if you do?

  • The game will be recorded at about 16 to 20 f p s.

  • For some reason now, this will hinder your over production quality.

  • Of course, if you do intend to make videos, and I thought I'd bring this to you guys is attention just in case you're thinking about buying the G 30 to 58 for a cheap content creation PC or something like that.

  • I thought it was definitely worth pointing out, at least because it is another floor, so to speak, in using this process or with modern titles, and then did the same thing with pudgy recorded internally to see how the CPU handled it.

  • And the thing is pudgy run pretty well overall using this process.

  • I was quite surprised by the outcome, however, when we attempted to record it with Shadow play again.

  • As you can see, the recording was all over the place, very statuary, and it was not smooth the till.

  • But I'd like to reiterate that actual gameplay was fine.

  • It was fairly smooth.

  • There will be a few frame drops, obviously due to the two calls and two threads, but it did a lot better than I initially thought it would do to conclude the do 30 to 58 2018 even when over clocked can be a hit and miss experience.

  • In some instances, it would still have you thinking, Wow, I can't believe it can do that.

  • And in others, it will leave you thinking, Well, I wish I bought something else.

  • It really is a totally mixed experience, but I think you'll find that in a lot of modern titles, to cause will cause a little bit of a struggle, not just the two cause, but the two threats.

  • Because, as I said before, the G 45 60 with its to cause and four threads will handle modern titles a lot better than this one, and that would certainly be the one to buy.

  • Although prices of that are certainly over inflated at the moment to, in fact, the G 30 to 58 still going for over £100 or dollars in a lot of instances, because it's sort of regarded as a little bit of a collector's item, I think, and can be quite hard to come by these days.

  • It's probably not the best idea to buy one anymore, and it pains me to say that what with being one of my all time favorites, but it seems the G 30 to 58 has a trickle of life left in it.

  • On Dhe, it was still surprise you in some games put it that way.

  • But overall, it's probably best avoided these days, and unfortunately, I think that will be the last time we take a look at this.

  • Nonetheless, Let me know if you're still using one of these in your system and how well it performs Battlefield one.

  • I'd like to mention again because I don't think that was quite right.

  • I will be doing some more testing and updating you in the comments, but I couldn't seem to get it past that.

  • 15 f.

  • P.

  • S.

  • As I said, let me know if you still use one of these lever like on the video.

however, one.
