  • Good morning from beautiful Kagoshima Prefecture

  • I am going to train now heading south from Kagoshima City to Ibusuki start this amazing Hitchhiking adventure

  • I flew in the Kagoshima yesterday from Tokyo the fligt was really nice because its flew directly over Mt. Fuji

  • I don't think I've seen it's so close from such a high distance that look really majestic

  • And then I arrived in Kagoshima to rain. And there're not much could doing in Kagoshima when It's trainning except eat

  • Shiirokuma which is like a Kakigoori but insead of putting flavored syrups there's a sweetened milk on top then they put a lot of stuff all around it

  • We even had a really cute coffee with the Shirokuma logo on it "Shirokuma" meaning white bear

  • That was a nice cappuccino and then I got to do something for eat something that I didn't get to do the last summer

  • Eat it one of the Kagoshima top Kurobuta Tonkatsu restaurant which was amazing the pork cutlet was so juicy

  • and salad and Miso soup and rice it just was one of the most perfect lunch I've ever had

  • Now I'm heading to Ibusuki which I'll be there is a few minutes

  • This is where I filmed the volcanic sand bath experience episode or the Sunamushi Onsen

  • I don't know when I need a chance to go there but what I want to do is go to the tip and fly my drone and get a realy impressive view of one of the corners of this amazing country

  • And from there I guess I'm planning to spend the night in my tent in Ibusuki and then from there start the hitchhiking

  • Let's see how today go

  • This is the end of Kyushu. this is Kagoshima prefecture, Nagasaki-bana and 14 years ago in 2003, this is where I ended my last hitchhiking trip from Wakkanai to Kagoshima

  • And when I just stepped off from that lighthouse and I saw these rocks here and I saw that volcano in the background

  • It brought back all those memories of the 20 people at that time who took time out of ther day to drive me somewhere for free

  • And just the ultimate kindness of strangers here in Japan

  • it's one reason probably the reason why I'm still here today because that trip was a pivotal time in my life

  • where I wasn't sure whether I was going to go back to the United States to stay in Japan

  • And decides to stay because it just was such an amazing country to me we didn't have YouTube in 2003

  • We didn't have high definition or 4K

  • Since that time ending in 2003 I have been wanting to do this hitchhiking trip one more time and now I can do it I can bring you with me throuhg YouTube

  • across this great land of Japan to Hokkaido

  • for the next month I'm going to be here checking on the road and tehy told you on the train

  • and it's just this is a great spot for me to proclaim it put it in so and say I'm going to do this thing I'm a fight for the next month to share the experience

  • I want you to feel like you'll with me

  • I want you to feel like you can explore Japan the same way than I am

  • I want to share what I saw in 2003

  • I want to share what I felt in 2003 about this amazing country

  • I was at a pivotal point in my life where I didn't know whether or not I was going to stay in Japan or go back to the United States

  • And I decided to keep I was going to stay here for a long time I should find out what this country is really all about

  • After that trip after the kindness of strangers and how amazing the people are, they really are when you're out here

  • That moved me so much that I'm still here 14 years later and it sort of why I want to do this trip again

  • So over the next month, I'll be on the road bringing these scene like this

  • And Nagasakibana and other things and meeting real people,

  • real life at work, hard working everyday people

  • bringing you places that can't normally see

  • as a tourist places that you probably wouldn't see if you couldn't speak Japanese

  • or a little bit places probably couldn't go to if you only had it a week or two

  • That's the purpose of this trip is to show you something you're never seen before

  • Give you an experience that is so powerful as a body of work I'm hoping that this month of travel means something to you as much as it did to me in 2004

  • And if it does just a little bit then I can say that my time it's totally worth it

  • And we're going to have an amazing adventures again and at this spot I just want to proclaim that the trip is on oh yeah the trip on it we're going to take it all the way to a Hokkaido

  • Baby starting right now

  • It was fun to go back to Nagasakibana

  • This is Ibusuki near Ibusuki station and

  • The sun's going down you can see behing me

  • It's going to be dark soon and I don't really have time to hitchhike back to the city of Kagoshima

  • So, I'm going I think this's be better spot to camp anyway I'm going to find Ibusuki park in camp here

  • Now camping in Japan is a little bit gray area you can't camp anywhere legally but

  • there's sort of an unwritten rule that if you pitch your tent when the sun goes down and you clear out of there when the sun goes up no one really minds too much

  • So, you t make a mess and you clean up by yoursefl

  • Ibusuki park on the map is not far away from Ibusuki cemetery, so I'm not sure to be such a fun camp place

  • We're going to check it out

  • See if we can pitch a tent here, you know look okay

  • On another note I have way too much luggage

  • but that was sort of necessary half of the stuff in this bag is cable,

  • tripots, the drone, batteries and

  • what I'm wearing is pretty much what I'll be wearing for the rest of the month I'll find a laundry mart or something

  • That good thing is that everywhere in Japan they have bathtubs, Sentos and Onsens

  • Okay here's the park, I think this looks like a pretty good spot to camp right underneath there by the tree

  • Maybe not on the soccer field but this looks pretty good

  • Okay so I haven't eaten anything all day I'm going to get some a bite to eat

  • We'll be back here to camp underneath that tree

  • get my onion tree

  • So I wonder what kind of food this city has

  • I introduced this foot bath in the volcanic sand bath experience episode and finally I get a chance to dip my feet in and after walking all day

  • Okay so that tree I wanted to camp out before is a big light underneath if Ican't really stay there so I'm going to pitch my tent right underneath this beautiful tree right here

  • Good enough welcome to my beautiful tent

  • Two people can sleep in here or one person and a lot of luggage

  • Here's my Dell computer I'm going to be using this to edit the video tonight if I can

  • The winds picked up I can hear the rain pattering on the roof on the rain cover

  • I'll be okay this park looks pretty cozy as long as I get up around 6 am I should fine but

  • I saw on the map that there's a cemetery not that far away and

  • If you ever watch this movie called The Blair Witch Project your imagination might start running a little bit more than it should

  • when you're camping by yourself in the dark

  • I can go wind is blowing the tent left and right

  • And you're not sure if you're supposed to be here

  • But yeah they all work to do hang in there I know I will

  • Good night

  • The weather report said cloudy not rain not like this

Good morning from beautiful Kagoshima Prefecture
