How come they are always so creative? 什麼？阿滴英文又有全新的系列了！他們怎麼這麼有創意阿？ Really? RD is just too talented! What is the new topic about? 真的假的！阿滴怎麼這麼厲害！這次新主題是什麼？ That's right, my Drops 沒有錯的各位小滴 I am preparing a whole new series 阿滴又準備要開始一個全新的系列 making English fun to learn for you guys 要跟大家一起有趣的學英文喔 Now, this series, as we call it, 那這一次的系列我們叫做 what we are going to show you is 要帶大家看的是... English... 台灣人... mistakes... 常犯的... in Taiwan... 英文錯誤... First and foremost, I want to thank every Drop that has supported us on PressPlay 首先要先感謝在 PressPlay 上面有訂閱支持我們的所有小滴們 allowing us to continue this channel and even make new series 讓我們可以持續的經營這個頻道，還可以一直開發新的主題 Since the fundraising plan started running in May, we have developed new topics such as 那自從五月的募資計畫開跑以來，我們開發的新主題有： English Song Spotlight, Crown's Vocab Series, 10 English Phrases... etc. 英文歌曲的分享、日常單字分享、還有10句常用英文等 If the response is good, if you like this series 那這個新的系列如果反應好，大家喜歡的話 we will continue making more videos! 也會持續的做下去喔！ So please remember to give us a thumbs-up, leave a comment below, and share this video! 所以記得要按個讚、要留個言、要分享出去喔！ Since Mandarin is our mother tongue, when we learn a new language 我們因為母語是中文，所以多多少少在學習一個新的語言的時候 we tend to bring in the Mandarin syntax into the newly-learned language 會把中文的邏輯思維帶進去這個語言當中， or even translate it directly 甚至是直接硬翻， producing the so-called "Chinglish" 就會造成我們所謂的「中式英文」 I very like Chinglish I very like Chinglish Lil' Ray please wait. I haven't cue you yet. 小瑞等一下，還沒 cue 到你 I personally think that being able to communicate is the most important 我個人是覺得可以溝通最重要啦 Even if you talk in Chinglish, as long as people understand you 就算是中式英文不過只要對方能夠聽得懂你在講什麼 you can still communicate 就可以溝通了嘛 However, if you want to learn English well and use the correct grammar in your conversations 不過，如果你想要把英文講好，用完全正確的文法溝通 please continue watching~ 那就繼續看下去吧～ Today I'll be cueing Lil' Ray to demonstrate Chinglish 今天我會先 cue 小瑞來示範中式英文 and while he demonstrates, you can think about 那他在示範的時候，你們也可以趁機想想看 how the sentences are incorrect and how we can fix them 這句話錯在哪裡、該怎麼改 After Lil' Ray's demonstration 那在小瑞示範之後 I'll explain why they are incorrect and how we say them right! 我就會跟大家解釋為什麼錯，以及正確的英文該怎麼說！ Ready? Let's go! Ready? Let’s go! Where are you come from? Where are you come from? America? America? Oh~say can you see~by the dawn's early light... (U.S. National Anthem) Oh~say can you see~by the dawn’s early light... (美國國歌) This sentence may be asked to foreigners in Taiwan. That is, "Where are you from?" 那這句話在台灣可能是問外國人嘛，就是說「你是從哪來的？」 The problem here is that the "ARE" in "where ARE you come from" 那這裡的問題是 where ARE you come from 的 ARE should be changed into "do", making it "where do you come from" 這邊應該要改成 do，變成是 where do you come from This is because what you've asked is the action of "come" 這個是因為你的問題是在問 "come"，「來」這個動作 and since we have a verb, we need the auxiliary verb "do" 因為有這個動詞的關係，所以需要助動詞 do If there isn't a verb in the question, then we do not need this "do" 那如果今天的問句裡面沒有動詞的話，才可以不需要這個 do For example, "Where are you from?" 比如說，Where are you from? This is also a common question to ask someone where they are from 這個也是非常常見，問「他是從哪裡來」的一個用法 And because we did not use the verb "come" directly, 那因為沒有直接問到 "come" 這個動詞 which means the question doesn't include the verb 他的問句沒有包含這個動詞的關係 it's okay to just say "Where are you from?" 所以直接講 where are you from 就可以了 I woke up super late today morning I woke up super late today morning Noon! 12 o'clock! Noon! 12 o’clock This sentence is translated directly into "today morning" from「今天早上」 !這句話就是中文直譯的「今天早上」，today morning but this is incorrect. "Today" and "morning" are both nouns 不過不能這樣子用， today 是名詞 morning 也是名詞 so we can't just stack them together 不能這樣子疊在一起 If you want to refer to 今天早上, you can say "this morning" 如果你想要講今天早上的話，可以說 this morning so it should be "I woke up super late this morning." 所以應該是 I woke up super late this morning If you intend to use the word "today", there's a way 或者是你一定想要用 today 這個單字，也是可以 but you have to use it solely, so it's "I woke up super late today." 不過就是要單獨使用，所以是 I woke up super late today I'm so boring. He's so boring. We are all boring I’m so boring. He’s so boring. We are all boring This mistake is quite often heard of 這個錯誤真的還蠻常聽到的喔 When do we use the words "boring" and "bored"? boring 跟 bored 到底該怎麼使用呢？ "Boring" means 「令人感到無聊的」 Boring 是指「令人感到無聊的」 while "bored" means 「我自身感到無聊」 而 bored 是指「我自身感到無聊」 So when you say "I'm so boring", you actually mean 所以當你講 I’m so boring 的意思是在指 "You are a boring person." instead of "I'm so bored." 「你自己是一個令人感到無聊的人」而不是「我好無聊」喔！ It's the same thing when it comes to other adjectives 同樣的道理也可以用在其他類似的形容詞上面喔 For example, "interesting" and "interested" 比如說 interesting 跟 interested "exciting" and "excited", "surprising" and "surprised" exciting 跟 excited、surprising 跟 surprised So, what you have to keep in mind is when added "-ing", it means "making someone feel", 所以，必須要記得的是，加上 -ing 是「令人感到」 when added "-ed", it means "your own feelings" 加上 -ed 的話則是「自身感到」 I want to go to the home. Sleeping. So tired I want to go to the home. Sleeping. So tired The "I want to go to the home" here, 那這邊的 I want to go to the home means "我想要回家" 他想要表達的是「我想要回家」 I think this is an interesting error, since we all know 那我覺得這個錯誤還蠻有趣的，因為我們都知道 if we're going to some place, we'll say "go to the _____" in English 去到某某地方，英文會說 "go to the 地方" 嘛 For example, go to the store, go to the park, and go to the station 像比如說 go to the store, go to the park, go to the station But! We can't use the same logic on this one 但是！一樣的邏輯不能夠套用在回家上面喔 No one will say "go to the home." Instead, it's correct to just say "go home". 沒有人會說 go to the home，而是直接說 go home 才是正確的 But have you ever wonder why we don't add "to" to "go home"? 不過你有想過為什麼回家不用加 to 嗎？ Never! 沒有！ That's because you... 因為你... Never mind, it's because, who would ever thought of this? It's so boring 好啦，因為，誰會想這個，超無聊的 The reason why we don't add "to" to "go home" is that 其實 go home 不需要 to 的原因是因為 the "home" here is a adverb instead of a noun home 在這邊不是名詞而是副詞 There are some places that can count as adverbs 有一些地方的名稱都可以當作副詞來用 so we don't need to add the preposition "to" 所以就不需要加上介系詞 to For example, "go downstairs", "go outside", "go abroad"...etc. 比如說 go downstairs, go outside, go abroad 等等 Have you grown some knowledge? 有沒有長知識！ Do you know where have toilet? Very need Do you know where have toilet? Very need The last one is the most important one, so you must learn 最後一個很重要，一定要學會 "Where is the toilet!" 哪裡有廁所！ But we can't just translate it directly into "where have toilet" 不過不能這樣子直接硬翻成 where have toilet We can't add the verb "have" right behind the adverb "where" 要where 這個副詞後面不能夠直接加上動詞 have if we want to ask 廁所在哪裡？we should say "Where's the toilet?" 問廁所在哪裡的話應該是要問 "Where’s the toilet?" The word "toilet" can also be replaced by other things 那這邊的 toilet 也可以替換成其他的東西 such as “where's the gas station”, “where's the money”...etc. 比如說 “where’s the gas station”, “where’s the money” 等 Okay! So let's review what we've learned today with Lil' Ray 好！那最後跟著小瑞一起來複習一下今天學的重點吧！ Good job!
