Today is a big day. What is happening today?
-
I get to walk with Becca and Anna to school.
-
You're walking with Becca and Anna to school. And we are going to go back with each other.
-
Welcome to our house! We don't have any kids here right now.
-
Has that ever happened before?
-
So all four kids are in school now and we are still adjusting, especially Joshua.
-
Especially Joshua. He still has a rough time. Because he was Momma's boy for a long time!
-
But Sarah is super excited about first grade, walking with her sisters to school.
-
Awe. My girls are home. All together at the same time.
-
It was so fun!
-
We're going to go to Kura sushi
-
Yay!!
-
Oh my goodness.
-
It's sushi time
-
Whatcha got there Beckster?
-
Salmon.
-
How about you Sarah? Chicken nuggets.
-
And Anna, french fries.
-
Ohh, and Daddy, yes.
-
We've all been quarantined for a long time. It has not been good for the ol' belly.
-
And Ruth's such a wonderful cook, baking wonderful things, and I'm there eating them all day long.
-
So now...counting calories.
-
I'm taking 21 days, I'm counting all my calories, starting to add all that up and seeing where all my calories are coming into play.
-
It is no joke. It takes at least twice as long to prepare your meal when you are counting the calories and weighing everything.
-
And getting it just right because I usually do everything by eye.
-
Chips and salsa. Had to count the chips, weigh out the salsa, weigh out the margarine that is on the grilled cheese. All of that.
-
So my lunch today comes out to an even 600 calories. I'm going to make sure to enjoy these calories right here.
-
How was school today?
-
Good. Good?
-
How was lunch?
-
Well, there was a special jelly.
-
Was it good? It was like lemon jelly.
-
Jelly in the bowl. Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle, wiggle jelly in the bowl.
-
So every afternoon when the kids all get home, I collect all their items and do a big load of laundry.
-
And hope that it doesn't rain overnight so that everything can dry.
-
So, here's all the masks. Gotta wash masks every day!
-
The next morning we send it all back to school.
-
Ok, we'll see you guys later!
-
On Fridays, they bring home their indoor shoes, they bring home even more things.
-
Momma-chan is just chilling'.
-
The weekends are our chance to relax a bit and enjoy more time with friends and family. At parks,
-
On-line for birthday parties
-
You have a birthday hat?
-
Ok, now let's see what Sarah's got for us.
-
What are those? Rollie Pollies.
-
Or just out front, cooling off on a hot day.
-
It's beginning to fell a lot like summer!
-
There is some crazy silliness going on here.
-
Let's dance.
-
Carry me. Don't drop me.
-
Monday morning is like a mad rush trying to find sports clothes, indoor shoes, all their lunch things, make lunches
-
Find all their school books and all their homework, take temperatures,
-
Plus make sure they all look dressed nice, have their hair brushed and teeth brushed
-
Ahhh! And there is 4 of them!
-
So, it's a little bit crazy sometimes, but it is so fun!
-
Don't put it on my bed!
-
Did you get lots of homework today guys?
-
No, no, no, no. Not that much.
-
Always I have this kind of homework.
-
Good thing your sisters help you huh?
-
Have you had any kanji tests recently?
-
Um hum, I got all 100%.
-
All 100% on your kanji test?
-
Awesome!
-
Daddy, look at these front teeth and see if they are coming through.
-
Are they? I don't know.
-
They are not quite there yet are they. When will they come through?
-
I don't know. Like 1000 more days! I hope not that long. It shouldn't be that long.
-
How did you do today? Good.
-
Good?
-
I stopped then I cried then I stopped then I cried then I stopped then I cried.
-
Wow, you cried quite a lot, huh?
-
I'm so proud of you big guy. High five!
-
Going to school, doing a good job.
-
I have a super special surprise waiting for the kids.
-
The other day I went to a BookOff here, a used electronics store and I was able to buy a used WiiU
-
Nintendo's most unpopular system
-
But the reason why this is so cool is because we can play Windwaker, a Zelda game
-
That Ruth and I played right after we got married and we loved it so much
-
And it will be our Japanese practice together as a family because we are going to play it all through in Japanese.
-
Its the only option on this, but they don't know that we got it yet.
-
(Reading in Japanese.)
-
And this is part of my Japanese homework here.
-
(Speaking in Japanese.)
-
That fox is very cute.
-
Yes!
-
We do family devotion time together and tonight Anna is picking the song.
-
This is your choice, huh?
-
I know that you are always up to something good.
-
Those who live in the shelter of the most high will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
-
This I declare about the Lord, He always is my refuge, my place of safety.
-
Ok, time for some special talents.
-
Alright Anna, lets see, can you move your eyebrows up and down?
-
Oh, very good, ok Becca, let's see Becca.
-
Oh, alright!
-
Wow, that's intense dude!
-
Let's see.
-
Mommy, can you?
-
Daddy, daddy, can I do it for you?
-
Just to move the eyebrows up and down? Ok, here we go.
-
Not going daddy.
-
You can wink one eye. Good for you!
-
They can all do it except for us!
-
Do you guys remember the story I told of when mommy and daddy got married
-
What was one of the things that was so special?
-
When you played Zelda.
-
We played a Zelda, didn't we.
-
What if we got an older nintendo that has the old Zelda on it.
-
And it's all in Japanese.
-
Daddy's going to play it
-
Joshua's all ready.
-
That's a huge surprise Daddy.
-
(Speaking Japanese)
-
This is some fun Japanese study here.
-
So everything is a pretty major adjustment.
-
And even though we have lived here six years, we are still adjusting to things and learning things.
-
I don't think the learning process will ever really stop, but we'll get more and more adjusted as time goes on.
-
Ready to go to school, huh?
-
Yes?
-
Wow, check out that hat Anna.
-
Life in Japan.
