It's so nice to meet you.
-
Happy birthday.
-
Today is Tyler's birthday.
-
[CHEERING] Thank you.
-
Are you turning 11 or 12?
-
Well, I'm turning 12--
-
Turning--
-
--and-- yeah.
-
I wanted the biggest birthday party ever.
-
And to me, this is the biggest birthday party ever.
-
Oh, wow.
-
[CHEERING]
-
Well, I had brought you gifts.
-
I'll send them back.
-
If this is enough for you, then I should--
-
so how did you start--
-
I know this story, but tell people
-
why you started playing violin.
-
Well, when I started playing violin,
-
I was only seven years old.
-
And I was being bullied in school because I had cancer
-
and my hair started coming out.
-
And I really didn't have anything to do,
-
because I had a port in my chest.
-
And I couldn't play any sports, and so I wanted something
-
to do.
-
And I started playing the violin.
-
And I feel like that was a way to release myself
-
through music.
-
Yeah.
-
And then I understand that you were outside
-
busking to make money so that you could raise the airfare
-
to get to America's Got Talent.
-
Yeah.
-
So I street performed for a year to save up
-
my money for my family's travel expenses
-
so I could make it to Charlotte, North Carolina and audition.
-
And so I made the cut, and look at me now.
-
Look at you now.
-
[CHEERING]
-
What is it about performing that you like so much?
-
When I perform, I feel like I'm the Incredible Hulk,
-
because I'm like a regular person now.
-
And just like the Hulk-- he's shy.
-
He really doesn't talk.
-
But then when it's action time, we
-
turn into a different person.
-
And I just love to perform.
-
Well, it shows.
-
You're an amazing performer.
-
And I assume Simon is your favorite judge because he gave
-
you the golden ticket, right?
-
Yes.
-
Yeah.
-
And before I even got on stage, I
-
was telling my mom I wanted to impress Simon.
-
Yeah, it was just a really exciting moment.
-
Yeah.
-
So you've gone from being bullied--
-
I bet the kids at school think you're pretty cool now.
-
Yes.
-
Now all the bullies want to be my friends,
-
and they congratulate me.
-
And--
-
[CHEERING]
-
I--
-
That's amazing, but you know, they should have been like
-
that-- they should have been that way to you all along,
-
not just because you're on TV and you're doing so well.
-
I got you a gift for your birthday,
-
because I know that you have-- you want two violins,
-
but I got you three.
-
And I got you some beautiful violins.
-
[CHEERING]
-
[INTERPOSING VOICES]
-
Cool, right?
-
Thank you.
-
All right.
-
And I know that you busk to help your mom with bills
-
and everything.
-
So Shutterfly loves helping people like yourself,
-
so they want to give you $10,000.
-
[CHEERING]
-
That-- Nice.
-
Tyler's going to perform after this.
-
We'll be back.
-
Here to perform for us from America's Got
-
Talent, Tyler Figueroa.
-
[CHEERING]
-

-
Don't you worry, don't you worry now, yeah.
-

-
See heaven's got a plan for you.
-
Don't you worry, don't you worry now, yeah.
